New Cirque du Soleil 'Drawn to Life' show in development to replace La Nouba

Show number 9. Couple of notes.

1). A rubber band guy came down fast and hurt his leg. They had to stop the act and the show. Very awkward. Very abrupt.

2). Unicycle girl fell off her unicycle.

3). The paint wheel was not in this show.

Definitely gonna say every show is drastically different due to the unpredictability of the acts. Its like the performers for this particular show are not quite as skilled as other cirque performers. More mistakes tend to happen.

1. I've seen some dicey landings from the rubber band guys. No showstoppers, tho.

2. I love the unicycle girls. I'm amazed they don't fall off their bikes more often.

3. The lack of paint wheel would improve the show, just like closing down SGE increased the GSATs of MK. Last time I went, the elements were basically: half flip, half gainer, full flip tucked, full flip piked, full flip layout, single flip - single twist. The floor exercise guys at the start were doing elements three times more difficult, and that's without someone throwing them up in the air. The paint wheel is so boring that the last time I was there, there was entertainment on the stage to liven up that section. It should just go.

I agree with the paint wheel. My least fav part of the show. I wrote it on a feedback form one time.

Bur it was replaced with the hoop girls, which isnt much more entertaining.

The acts in the show could all stand to be cut in half i think. They drag on a bit. It is very close to being an excellent show. Theres just pacing issues.

I think it’s more along the lines of - they make it look easy but what they are doing is very high-skill and quite dangerous.

I need to get back and see it again - I’ve seen it twice so far and really liked the improvements they made from 1.0

Saw this for the first time this week, and it was rough... juggler kept dropping balls, the jump roper on the big spinning wheel got his foot caught and came very close to falling off. There was a cacophony of gasps as people were genuinely afraid for this man. Many of the acts felt long and dragged on. People kept getting up mid show and just leaving. Is this really the best Cirque and Disney can collab on?

It may have been an alternate performer - I believe the full time juggler is still Ty Tojo who is quite literally one of the best in the world.
the jump roper on the big spinning wheel got his foot caught and came very close to falling off.
That’s planned - pretty much every wheel performer does that gag so that there will be….
a cacophony of gasps as people were genuinely afraid for this man.

I’ve seen the show twice - the first time I felt about like you did…. The second time I absolutely loved it. The cast should be more solid and not inconsistent.

What other parks?
Shanghai has one (now uniquely accessible from both inside and outside the park), and, apparently so does Tokyo (although as far as I can tell they've never had a Disney production there per se). There's never been quite a confirmation about what will replace Buffalo Bill's in Paris long-term (that I can find anyway), but there is definitely space for a more traditional theatre there should Disney want it.

The continued existence of this show and Cirque's deal with Disney makes me very annoyed that it has prevented a proper theatre from Springs like we have in other parks...
Understandable.... But I am very much a big fan of a Disney-Cirque collab. This one does just fine, especially for those who have never seen a Cirque show.

That contract is stupid, though.

That sucks.

This is part of the show to create suspense. They have done this all 9 times I have seen the production.

Yep. Part of the show.
Many of the acts felt long and dragged on.
Pacing issues are a thing.

It needs to be shortened. Especially for a theme park resort show. They should lower the ticket prices and make it more of a 40 minute production. The story for the show is absolutely beautiful. The Cirque acts are just nothing new or impressive. They need to focus more on the story/theatrical aspect of the show... I would argue, similarly to how they handled The Beatles in Vegas.

Shanghai…
Shanghai tried the Broadway shows and now has a more standard theme park show - I don’t see anywhere that it’s accessible from outside the parks - but I may be missing that.

Tokyo had a cirque show (which I heard was excellent) but it closed after the tsunami and never reopened. They haven’t had any show since correct?

Paris has tried an off brand cirque show - the tent is still there but they only use it for event space now - and then the Buffalo Bill show which also closed and I would put that more into the hoop Dee doo category anyways.

And that’s kind of the point…. There is no indication that any other shows would be successful - cirque at Disney springs is the most successful example.

Shanghai's started as being only accessible from outside the park (first when they ran BATB, and then when TLK came in). Pretty sure that access is close due to it currently not being used for a hard ticket show, but it still technically exists. Tokyo's theatre is the same one constructed for Cirque - it is apparently now used for most community-orientated experiences but there is no reason why it couldn't have a professional show in the space. It certainly worked previously. As for Paris - the space exists (or actually a number of potential spots to build if necessary), and it's not exactly a stretch to see Disney doing so (rumours posted in various places have suggested a permanent theatre is coming anyway).

Shanghai ran 2 very successful shows, then stopped due to wanting to use the space for park shows and not building a new theatre elsewhere (and sticking a meh show at best in it, while leaving the theatre without a revenue generator in the evening). Paris hasn't really tried a proper musical/play but does have hard ticket experience. And Tokyo is Tokyo. OLC want it, they'll almost certainly hit it out of the park. DL has no space, and Orlando has Cirque as their issue. To say that Orlando couldn't do a hard ticket experience that makes money which isn't run by a 3rd party but DLE, is kind of crazy considering they've never done it. I've crunched the numbers myslef a few times - the audience is there... Just need the will (and the lack of Cirque).
