Any painted steel is going to require maintenance and more painting every year. I wouldn't design a system that on top of the usual annual maintenance you have to get large lifts to repaint everything.
There are low maintenance options instead of traditional paint but they’d really be suited to being one color. There is already such a pylon next to Epcot.

I believe that's a big reason they are not painted.
I also believe I heard that they are galvanized, and that process makes paint adhesion difficult.

What’s crazy is this actually exists in Aruba…
It’s nearly the exact shape as the columns, just paint them to look like this and they’d be 100% authentic theming.

A lighthouse with a bunch of extra supports and cables hanging off it makes no sense. That’s not a thing. That wouldn’t be theming, just weird decorating. The better solution to the in-resort experience would be some nicer landscaping around the pylons.

I’ll settle for trees but it’s still lipstick on a pig.

Its a fundamentally flawed design and never should have been build where it is in the first place, from a utilitarian perspective it does its job very well, it quickly moves people from point A to point B in a fun way, it just looks horrible as it does it.

It’s akin to putting a 200’ B&M rollercoaster where they put Tron, it would be wildly popular and amazingly fun but it would be totally out of place sitting in MK and nothing they did to hide it after the fact would ever fix that.

Anything they do now will be lipstick on a pig.

Hey, let's just run Skyliner lines between all the resorts and all the parks! That way, Disney can just have its fleet of bus drivers sitting in a room getting paid in case a line goes down, or when inclement weather hits, plus having buses parked but needing maintenance because you never know when you're going to need them all. Not to mention the logistics of having so many lines crisscrossing the property. Massive savings!!!

Yes - “Epcot line” from Caribbean Beach to Epcot. Riviera line from Caribbean beach to riviera.

Ok, yeah, that probably would make things a bit more efficient , but would add a line (so more cost) with now 4 going into/out of CBR (making that station even busier) and would take away a selling point of Riviera having a direct path to Epcot

As someone who is likely never to stay at Riviera it would be beneficial to me but can see why they didn't go that route

But riviera is not ideal when it’s busy since so many cabins arrive “full”

I’m also not sure on cost since that’s a long stretch of skyliner from Riveria to Epcot - it would have been more direct (less cables, less supports) to skip it.

They need to leave some cabins empty departing from CBR hub so that when they arrive at Riviera you'd have some hop on board available. Try explaining this to guests at the Hub!😉

I think all Disney cares about is ROI... They raised the price at CBR, POP, and AoA. They built Riviera with the idea of selling it with the skyliner.

I wonder what the break even point on the system is even if they are paying bus drivers to sit around.

I assume there will not be busses between Reflections and MK. The Fort Wilderness boat launch is super close. One of the main reasons people pay for Disney hotel prices is the transportation to the parks. There is a reason AKL is usually the cheapest deluxe resort.

I am interested in the transportation to Lakeside Lodge - can't imagine they require an internal bus for a DBC but if they have direct buses will some people from campgrounds come over to use?

Is that one boat launch sufficient for all the people at Lakeshore and Fort Wilderness?

Will be interesting

That is another issue with adding DVC and using resort resources. The contemporary, grand, and poly all 3 have DVC towers which all use the same resort monorails and boats. Obviously that will affect the wait times.

Same for the friendship boats and the new swan tower.

They have both buses and the boats from WL to MK. And buses from FW to MK. I expect there to be buses from Lakeside too, though they may share with one or both of the others.

Unless site plans have drastically changed, Lakeside will have a boat launch and 5 covered bus stops (to the east of the hotel entry).

If I were a wagering type, I'd wager that it either will not share buses with another resort hotel or at worst share with Fort Wilderness. But that's not based on anything other than a guess, since it's a combination regular rooms/DVC resort.
