Normally I'd agree, but hotel occupancy is remarkably high right now (90%) and wedding guests skew heavily to the weekends, as opposed to convention guests. It's most likely that those folks are filling rooms that would be occupied anyways.
but the plussing is really so slight...you will barely notice in person...the crystal chandeliers will look more elegant in the space, and quite frankly that room should have had them all along. The benches will be a different color, but again,a minimal change and all for the best... That Golden Girls era pickled wood look is WAY out... It will look like the same space but refreshed... it is not going to be a huge dramatic difference
Many weddings at WDW are done on weekdays, with guests scheduling arrivals before and often staying for a few days after the wedding. Not sure about now, but 10 years ago, for the budget-conscious bride and groom, there was an incentive to try to schedule your wedding during the week as your minimum required "spend" was far less if the wedding was on Monday through Thursday compared to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So unless this has changed, which I doubt, it did have the effect to spread the weddings pretty evenly overall.
Do you know if they're planning on refurbishing any of the other wedding areas?
I'm not aware of any.
