Yeah... no. That's just false. They're very expensive but their volume is minuscule compared to tickets and rooms.

True, but like conventions, teams, school bands, etc. the ancillary income is decent. It's not just food/bev/venue fees for wedding events themselves, but all the income that comes with your 50 plus guests who otherwise would not have been on WDW property, staying in resort rooms, buying food and merch. It creates a new stream of guests.

Ok.. for my two cents worth...

I like how the rendering has a MEGA castle in the leaded arched window. Why so much detail that it's a leaded arched window. Can we just say in the background? But in all of the real life pics, you can barely see the castle. Not to mention the over-grown trees that they fail to trim.

I work in the wedding business and I agree with @wdwmagic, some people are SOOOOO picky about things. I do, on average, 3 weddings on a Saturday with my staff. I have seen it all. I had a bride cry because the periwinkle NAPKIN color wasn't the exact shade of blue she wanted. Her fiance picked it out. First off, periwinkle is purple, not blue so good try! But calming her down as she was about to walk down the aisle was nothing short of a feat. People lose it over the simplest of things.Needless to say, I looked her in the eye and said, did your guests know the exact color shade the napkin, that they will wipe their face with, will be? She said nope. I told her, see, nothing to even worry about. :)

Normally I'd agree, but hotel occupancy is remarkably high right now (90%) and wedding guests skew heavily to the weekends, as opposed to convention guests. It's most likely that those folks are filling rooms that would be occupied anyways.

On the fence about this. I rather liked the simple design the pavilion had. And I was there last year for a wedding. Guess they felt the need to "plus" it up a bit.

but the plussing is really so slight...you will barely notice in person...the crystal chandeliers will look more elegant in the space, and quite frankly that room should have had them all along. The benches will be a different color, but again,a minimal change and all for the best... That Golden Girls era pickled wood look is WAY out... It will look like the same space but refreshed... it is not going to be a huge dramatic difference

Many weddings at WDW are done on weekdays, with guests scheduling arrivals before and often staying for a few days after the wedding. Not sure about now, but 10 years ago, for the budget-conscious bride and groom, there was an incentive to try to schedule your wedding during the week as your minimum required "spend" was far less if the wedding was on Monday through Thursday compared to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So unless this has changed, which I doubt, it did have the effect to spread the weddings pretty evenly overall.

not calling you out, but find it funny they produced a press release over this... They have their own internal marketing which should handle this if anyone is planning a wedding, and quite frankly, if you are planning a Disney Wedding, these changes will not really make a difference...it will just be nicer... "Gee I really wanted to book the Disney Wedding, but I just didn't like the chandeliers and I wish the benches were painted"...Said no one ever...

There are an uncountable number of brides & couples that will disagree with you... have you not seen Bridezillas?

Does anyone know if they ever removed the "stained glass" that was on the windows to hide the construction of GF DVC? I assumed it was just a film and not an actual new window.
