EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I think if they're trying to make it something sculptural that stands out in the current environment, the right call is to use the same accent material that has been used elsewhere in the space, i.e. COR-TEN. If they are doing something more understated, I don't deny that they could perhaps go with something more monochromatic in stone or concrete. I really just meant that they shouldn't deviate from the materials already in use and that pretty much all the display elements currently in the gardens are pulling from the COR-TEN color family.

Agree to disagree.

I don't foresee us having a fountain, but it's possible to create something incredible in this space without a fountain. Unfortunately, that didn't happen in round one. Hopefully there will be a round two.

Also, I don't mind the stage and the Encanto show as a concept, but man does it kill the ambience of the area.

Sadly, CommuniCore Hall is the part of this redo that genuinely needs to be leveled. The gardens feel salvageable, but the hall will always feel cheap. They need to bring back the original concept from when Creations was to be demolished, with the collection of domes and toroids surrounded by gardens. Put the M&G in one, Festival Favorites and other fare in another, the stage in an Imagination-facing bandshell, and maybe even a carousel in another.

I sawa video a few months back (Brayden? Poseidon? Brickey?) that suggested Communicore Hall was indeed probably a panic measure, thrown up quickly, and likely not to stay for too long. We live in hope. Problem is, there needs to be another pot of money allocated for another revamp, which shows no sign of coming. Maybe for the 50th? We're 7 years away from that. They need to start now!

Honestly.
I enjoy your posts.
You keep it fun around here.
Thanks for the kind words. I very much enjoy your posts too!

I try to make fun post to help all of us cope with the destruction of our beloved parks.

Love and anger are passionate emotions and they only happen when we care about, and have a connection to something.

Indifference happens when one stops caring and all passion is gone. That is very sad.

No.

The FoN was South of the middle of the hub next to the old Starbucks.

Right in the pinch-point of the Communicore buildings arching into each other. Dumb.

FoN, or any fountain, should be right in the middle of the hub where the current festival planter is.
In case we need a reminder about the "pinch-point", nothing about the Fountain of Nations impeded traffic flow. Not to mention the fact that both CommuniCores had indoor air conditioned walkways that you could take from Spaceship Earth to the south end of the fountain in lieu of the exterior paths, which would've been restored as part of the original plaza plan. Plus the fact that MouseGear and Club Cool's entrances would've been decluttered, and the Fountain stage would've been removed, freeing up the area even more.

The placement of the fountain was always correct and never a problem. If it were smack in the center it would've impeded on people being able to walk from one breezeway to the other.

The gardens are the cheapest and easiest thing to change...Why remove a building that is needed... I could never tell what was actually part of that original concept... Lots of indistinct things...maybe you saw different concept art than I did... There were things within the gardens planned including a fountain, but all cut. The current gardens are just too plain and uninteresting to have the center court spotlight... That plaza should be engaging and beautiful... It should be a WOW not a... oh... rusted steel and oddly placed tables and chairs......oops I better watch out or I could trip over this light post or shards of plastic.... why does the planter look like a crowning..... oh.... hmmmm.... lol

Because the gardens are generally fine if they can manage light covers that don’t warp (tall order, I know). The planters just need the level of seasonal displays that were promised, and if a fountain gets added, it should go south of the gardens.

Meanwhile, the building looks like a gas station on the outside and a low-end convention center on the inside. That can’t be mitigated without redoing it.

Thank-you for posting pictures of the absolutely real pinch points that I experienced over and over and over again due to the FoN being between where Communicore SW and SE came together exacerbated by add-ons, such as Starbucks, and the concretization encirclement of the FoN to keep people away from being sprayed by the FoN (a design flaw from the beginning).

It was real despite your claims otherwise. Pictures of the pinch points when there's only a dozen people around is a huge cherry-picking distortion. When there were crowds, it was a traffic jam. And claiming one could just jump into Communicore to get around it is laughable.

Additionally laughable is the claim that if FoN was in the absolute center, it would definitely impede the East-West transit of breezeways, all the while ignoring how it impeded the North-South transit of World Showcase and the Entrance/Exit.

It's a fact!

I would agree with that...at first I thought you were referring to Communicore East... The Communicore Hall is pretty lousy...poor design and concept...and feels terribly temporary though I think we can all admit it is not at all...it will be there for decades to come...a sad footnote to a disastrous renovation... I would rather see a big show fountain in the center replacing some of the gardens.... The element of water feels missing... part of why these gardens feel like a business park.
it just all feels so... ordinary, and not at all what it should be...People don't travel and invest money to be in ordinary surroundings, a business park or to shop at a Target...
I am not sure what a lot of those circular things were in the concept art, but considering they cancelled the big Table building, they could have at least left in some of the other structures that might have been a lot more interesting that the Gas Station/DJbooth/Cafeteria/Flex Space building....

While others may like it, the World Celebration gardens is mostly a disappointment for me.

The removal of the leave a legacy graveyard - Excellent!
The return of the EPCOT acrylic spires - Excellent!
The return of the old EPCOT icons and flags - Excellent!
The points of lights on SSE and the plaza lights - Excellent!
The addition of the Walt statue - I really like this! I love to watch folks interact with the statue!
Connections, Creations - I can live with it - Way too generic, but can live with them.
Club Cool - Totally happy we still have it, but again, way too generic.

Now for the Bad -
Moana - NOPE while its fine for what it is, its in the wrong park. This needs to be in AK. Moana is an awful use of space in this area with the pump/filtration plant taking up space ON STAGE - very BAD.

The whole destruction of Innoventions on this side was a huge mistake and if I was in charge, I would have gutted the existing structure, make updates to the outside to match Connections/Creations and put in a Big Beautiful omimover dark ride in there, take your pick of IPs

The awful rust things everywhere! terrible, awful
The useless seating just to put something, anything there, just awful.

The terrible awful planter with the broken ground lighting, this is the worst thing ever done. I think back on looking at the dirt pit all those years wondering what the heck they were doing for almost 5 years? Was there a secret repair of a sink hole? Were they relocating Walt's cryogenic chamber? What the heck are they doing?

Its just terrible we ended up here and the real sad part is it will stay like this for decades.

Rocket Rods would beg to differ.... But I think EPCOT Celebration whatever-it-is-called is one of the worst projects for TDO. I still can't quite figure out how this idea and lack of vision was ever greenlit...Let alone had people in charge actually promoted afterwards.... Well I guess his floor choices were ok....
Maybe someday we will find out the whole story of what happened during that time.....

Surprisingly I agree with most of this except I think Moana is the best part.

Moana is actually the best vision of EPCOT that came with the changes. It’s edutainment. Now, I won’t argue that it would fit better in AK and that it sticks out like a sore thumb in EPCOT, but concept-wise, it’s much better than other things we got.
Quality wise the Moana walk through is the best element in that area, yes I agree.

It does not however make up for the rest of the awful things in the area.

To clarify Rocket Rods is the worst attraction mistake in company history, I agree.

To me, at the moment, this EPCOT Celebration whatever-it-is-called, is the worst project in WDW.

I say at this moment, lets see what happens with the terrible, awful Cars thing in MK!
