9 or 10 day tickets?

I just booked a WDW Vacation for Dec 22-30. That is 9 days we will be there. I was not offered 8, 9, or 10 day tickets.....only 7! I went back to the site a couple of days later (this had been bothering me) and did a tickets only "inquiry" and the 8, 9, & 10 day option was available. The 9 day tickets were only $20 more total (for 3 tickets). My question is can I call Disney reservations or Disney travel (I booked this online) and get them to change that? I really want the option of going into a park every day that I am there and since it is only $20 more for 2 additional days, why not? We are going to US & IOA for a couple of days, but we always get back from there early and like to go to the Disney parks at night. If we don't have the 9 or 10 day option, we can't do that.

I can tell you how we did it in the past before the new ticket plan. We usually go for 9 to 11 days when we go. Sometimes we even go twice a year. After doing the math I found that the yearly pass made more sense. Granted we paid close to $1600 up front for the 4 of us but we saved in the long run by taking advantage of other trips to Disney. It paid itself off. Check it out and see if it's cheaper to buy the yearly pass for that time.

We just got back on Sunday and had a blast. Soarin in EPCOT is one cool ride. The first row along with leaning over provides the best experience in that ride. Row 2 and 3 does not give you the best feeling because you can see the bottom of the screen along with peoples feet (if you go on, you'll know what I mean). We went on it 6 times using fastpass.

EPCOT has the all you can get Fastpass without waiting for a certain time to get another. Have fun.

Cool! I can not wait to ride Soarin'! I am a bit afraid of heights, but my love (ok...obsession) with Disney and the rides will win out.

As for the tickets, at least I know I have options. I don't think the AP would be a good idea because we probably won't be going back within a year and we got the MYW dining package. I'll probably just call Disney Travel and see what they can do.

If anyone else has any ideas for me, please, let me know.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as an 8 or 9 day ticket. The price difference between a 7 day and 10 day pass is only a couple dollars, so how they could also squeeze 8 and 9 day tickets between is just weird!

But yeah, just upgrade to a 9/10 day ticket.

That's the downside of booking online... call Disney directly and they will make the change for you. I did the exact same thing... wanted 8 or 9 days but could only get 7 online. So, I spoke to a CM in reservations last week, and she said she is not sure why you can't get more days online, but they would be more than happy to help me in person.)

Thank you, thank you thank you! :sohappy: This makes me feel better. Now, I won't feel like an idiot calling to ask for more days. I will do that today! The extra days will make my Christmas trip much better. :xmas: No figuring out which days I can't go to WDW parks.

A good thing about purcahsing the annual pass is that you can save money with the annual pass resort discount. We have saved enough with the resort discount to warrant the purchase of the AP. We purchased the DDE card for $50 and save 20% at most of the restraurants that we like to eat. You can also purchase one AP to get the savings for the rooms and other things for the entire group. It's something to consider and with the DDE card you don't have to worry as much about the terms of the dining plan and for the few days you are going to Universal you won't be missing out on the dining plans meals.

You may not be able to make the change by calling. I had the same problem, I booked online for our 4 day trip next week. Then they announced the 8-10 day tickets. I knew we would be going back for our son's b-day, so I wanted to upgrade to a 10-day non-expiring ticket. When I called Disney, the lady on the phone said that she could not change internet orders, just cancel and rebook. She did tell me I could upgrade the tickets when I arrive.

Wanting to make sure I got what I wanted, I tried to e-mail the website people (don't have the address offhand or I'd give it to you). The first reply back said that they didn't offer 10 day tickets, so I asked again. This CM went ahead and upgraded for me and just told me to go back to the website to pay the new balance.

Of course after that I did a little research and found I could have saved a bit more with an AP, but after all that trouble, I wasn't about to try to make changes again. But definately take a look and see if AP will save you any $$. Good luck and keep trying, you'll eventually get a CM that can help you out.

Just to clarify... I hadn't actually booked yet... I tried to and discovered that I could not get the 8-10 day option. Dealing with them in person is so much better than online... you get EXACTLY the vacation you want. AND they answer all of those stupid questions that you spend hours searching the Disney site for answers to.

Thanks for all the tips and advice. I called 1-407-WDisney. I told the CM what I wanted to do and he took care of everything. He had to cancel our existing reservation and make a new one with a 9-day ticket. He even asked me if there was anything I wanted to change. He was so helpful. The price increase - $19.17! Definitely worth it! This was so much easier than I anticipated.

We had no problems upgrading on phone

We had a similar situation. Booked 8 day trip, not told there was a 10 day option (as we had purchased the no expire option). When I called back to check on the room rate (something seemed off) the new CM on the phone at Disney customer service said, "my goodness, I don't know why the person you spoke to earlier didn't just tell you to get the 10 day ticket." So she upgraded it for me right then and there, did not have to cancel original reservation, and it only cost minimal difference. :sohappy:

9 days??? By then it's almost cheaper to get an AP! That's what my parents did. They wanted 5 day passes and tey were like 250 something, so they just got AP's.

other upgrades?

I booked a trip in January just as the MYW package was announced with a five day pass... I kind of want to bump it up to 6 when I arrive on Wednesday, since it is only a couple of dollars in price difference. When I asked my travel agent (whom I booked it through), they told me it was 20 dollar price hike, per day, which is ridiculous. My pass is a prepaid voucher for now... will Disney be more amicable and upgrade me at the REAL price difference?

It actually cost me $19.17 for 2 days added to 3 tickets. :sohappy: Thats just over $3 per day per ticket. My husband now wants me to call back and add additional days to our vacation and get a 10 day ticket. I think 9 days is enough for now. :D I'm just happy I going at Christmas!

Now that's a good price... My travel agent told me 20 dollars per day... so it would have been over a hundred dollars. i guess i'll try at the park...

Ever consider getting and AP for unlimited visits as well as benefits like room discounts? Not sure if that's cheaper, but you may want to check it out.

If history repeats, no AP discounts at Christmas, which is when we are going. We would need the premium AP and we wouldn't get to do the Dining plan, which would save us a bundle......my hubby is a big eater and my daughter and I can hold our own. It just didn't work for us this time. Hopefully, one day, we will live close enough so that a PAP would be feasible.
