I dont know if this was posted yet but a CM friend sent it to me.

Magic Kingdom Events for September 11
Last December, President Bush signed a joint resolution of Congress designating September 11 as Patriot Day. In order to commemorate this day, the Magic Kingdom Park will be hosting several events.

• The Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station and Town Square will be decorated with red, white, and blue decor.
• At sunrise, all flags will be raised to full staff and then lowered to half staff.
• At 8:00 a.m., the Cast of the Magic Kingdom Park are invited to the unveiling of a memory box given to us from a Guest after 9/11. It will take place at the apex (outside the Mouse Pad and across from the Character Zoo) of the tunnel and Phil Holmes and a WDW Ambassador will be present to share it with all of us.
• At 12 noon, there will be a moment of silence throughout the Park. Guests will be notified of the moment of silence through announcements made in the morning and A-frames outside some of the attractions. Guests will be encouraged to go to Tomorrowland, Frontierland, and Main Street, U.S.A. to participate in the moment. It will consist of a 30-second announcement including a greeting, several seconds of silence, and a transition to a 75-second recording of God Bless America. During this time, several attractions will cycle down or will hold their dispatch or start times:
• WDW Railroad
• Main Street Vehicles
• Horse-drawn trolleys
• The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
• Jungle Cruise
• Big Thunder Mountain
• Splash Mountain
• Frontierland Shootin' Arcade
• Cinderella's Golden Carrousel
• Dumbo the Flying Elephant
• Mad Tea Party
• Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
• Astro Orbiter
• Tommorowland Transit Authority
• The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm
• Liberty Square Riverboat
• The Hall of Presidents
• Tom Sawyer Island
• The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
• Peter Pan's flight
• Snow White's Scary Adventure
• At 5:30 pm, there will be an enhanced flag retreat at
Town Square with an emcee introducing the events and the Voices of Liberty performing patriotic music.

In addition to the events, Cast Members are invited to wear their Cast exclusive commemorative pin received on September 5 with paychecks. The pin is a gift from the Walt Disney Company to say thank you for helping people in need nationally and locally since the attack on America on September 11. This pin can be worn only on September 11 and should be worn on the right side of your costume. It should not be placed on a pin lanyard or traded with our Guests as it is not a Disney pin.

Please join us in our activities commemorating this day.

That is awsome. Especially the parkwide moment of silence. I think that it's a good way to bring back to our attention the severity (sp?) of what happened on America's soil last year on this day. The media has shoved so much about the attacks down our throats that a lot of people have been desensitised by it all, which is ashame. WDW has chosen a way that brings back to our attention what we've all had in the back of our minds since it happened without being too gawdy (sp?) or overbearing.
If anyone can get the silence on tape, please post! Thank you!

I also agree Micbat, we have become desensitized by the media. I'm glad to see the reading of God Bless America. Locally there was a moment of silence followed with bell ringing. I would have prefered the Pledge of Allegience or Star Spangled Banner or a reading of God Bless America. I understand the silence to honor the victims, but after that we need to rally together. What a better way than rousing show of patriotism.

Wow. I wish I had been at Disney World for this. What a moment, to see everything in the park just stop. I would probably cry at the sadness, yet beauty of the human spirit that brings us together in times of tragedy.
