Dole Whips back at the Polynesian Village

Maybe if you pay the $5 upcharge for a tiki bowl, you'll receive a slightly better portion?

Or maybe not.

I doubt it. If you look at the same stock photos that are shown at the new "Dole Window", it looks like the same serving you received in your picture just put inside of the tiki bowl with a separate cup holding the actual Dole Whip. It seems like there's a gap between the two bowls.

That's just my opinion anyway.

I'd like to think you're wrong...but you're probably not (based on souvenir cups served at other locations). :(

Going to have to save a lot of whip to justify manning the stall all day.
I would have thought in the region of 50 servings need to saved an hour before you cover the cost of the employee.

Of course, since they seem more concerned about possible revenue loss rather than cost, the Disney way of looking at it is that they only need to turn 2-3 abuses into extra purchases and it's cost neutral - any more and they increase revenue.

Any word on hours? Other MK employees and I really enjoyed our quick trips to the Poly at 1am after a long shift and getting our Dole Whip fix. I'll miss the 24 access if it's gone.

I was wondering the same thing too. I we come home from the park after the 1am-3am closings, a nice Dole Whip was a cool snack to eat while walking up to our room. It would be sad if they closed by 11am or so.

either way, I kinda like the idea of a private section for the Doles. It clears up space from Captain Cook's and keeps the area clean.

And though it's none of my business, it was kind of annoying seeing people take such large portions. I experienced it first hand last year. Do people really eat it all or do they just take it because they can, take pictures, and then throw half of it away? When I saw this late one night, the lady laughed as she walked away from the machine. I looked at the CM at the register and she knew what I was thinking. So she said 'I've seen worse." To me, that's not right. I get that guests want what they pay for but....wow.

Anyway, I may have a different opinion when I check it out in April, but as of right now, it's the least offensive Poly changes to me.

The abuse of either piling on way too much or just taking it for free (as some told me they use to do) was not the main issue. On days where dispensing was heavy or people were running the dispenser for a long time the lines would freeze up and the machine would go down. They decided it needed to be controlled by staff and also have a better way to service the machine. I can’t say that I think the theming is very well done but technically they did not just cut a hole in the wall, they built that wall. Even more reason to make it look better than it does. That use to be the inside of Wyland Gallery where the tables are.
The hours are noon to an hour after fireworks.

Lets be real here: They put a RFID chip on all resort beverage stations to prevent those from "stealing soda". Wasnt it pretty obvious that an "open - make your own" dole whip station at a resort would eventually be taken away? Just saying.
