It's sad for the cast, many of whom have been with the company awhile. One of them was a former Comedy Warehouse CM, at least two worked at Adventurer's Club, and one of the ladies once worked at Hoop. I hope they're able to find other work for them all. They were all very talented. It's especially disheartening when you know how little they were actually getting paid, even as equity performers (in other words, the budget for the show surely wasn't breaking the bank).
Exactly! I recognized at least one of them every year in the Comedy Warehouse Holiday Specials. They just keep getting shuffled from one venue to another and they just keep getting closed. Honestly there are very few places left for them to go. Streetmosphere at the Studios is very packed and I doubt their budget would be expanded. There's the Royal Majesty Makers at MK if they survive this next round of cuts, and actually several of the judges at American Idol are improv performers. That's the one reason I like that show, because of how many equity roles it has between the host, pre show guy, and the judges.

I'd rather the majesty makers go and bring Merlin back. But you can tell equity generally wants no part of Disney face characters

I don't think Equity cares about whether the performers portray characters or not, Disney just doesn't like paying for Equity performers. I would much rather the Royal Majesty Makers be kept because in one day they employ four equity improv performers and the four piece band. They perform the Sword in the Stone ceremony that Merlin used to do and more. Of course if these cuts keep coming I fear they'll be next...

Honestly let them go-the ceremony without Merlin is a mockery. The band preceded the actors, I don't know one has to go in lockstep with the other

The ceremony is pretty much the same, no reason to cut several equity performers so they can keep only one to have as Merlin.

It's depressing that the number of Equity roles for comedic performers seems to be dwindling. Fortunately, the musical theater roles seem somewhat stable, but for the comedians (who aren't all necessarily theater performers), it's pretty limited right now- World Showcase players, Streetmosphere, Royal Majesty Makers, maybe a few other small troupes that I'm missing...it's slim pickins.

I know it's not inside one of the theme parks, but I can count on one in the number of times I've seen performers along the Boardwalk. After staying there for nearly 25 days over 4 separate visits, I think I've seen maybe 5 performances over the years, none at all in recent years.
If they are out there, it's not very often.

I forget about the Citizens of Main Street at MK, they exist and some f the judges at Idol are improv performers or used to be in Comedy Warehouse. There's also the Modern Day film crew at Studios but I think they might fall under the Citizens of Hollywood.

I always forget about Citizens of Main Street, mostly because I'm never in MK that early in the day. And the film crew, yes! They're equity...a good friend of mine is in that group now, doing the Fantasmic pre-show. I should have remembered that one.

During my trip last November a night didn't go by when we didn't see a different performer, including Coney Island Chris.

I thought she retired
I heard Miyuki was leaving and went to see her one last time October, and asked her if she was really leaving --
Miyuki said she is going to travel the USA and see the country. She said she loves the USA and wants to see more of it! It seems like she left voluntarily and it was her plans, so she was not cut. Her last show was (I think) during the Thanksgiving week.
It's sad to see her go, and I am going to miss seeing Miyuki at Epcot she was "part of the furniture" in World Showcase. But after 15+ years in the same spot in Japan pavillion, she can see and do new things, so I'm wishing her fun and good luck in her travels!

Hopefully it was on her terms that she left, that's always the best situation. However, it's a shame when they don't fill her spot. I'm not saying they try and replace her and what she did verbatim, but something new and unique like she did would be great to have. Of course who am I kidding though, I'm sure they were thrilled she wanted to leave.

Disapointing. In our trips I would always make sure we caught any and all entertainment as we walked through. As people have mentioned, and I concur, Epcot WS without the street performers is restaurants, stores and booze. Although visualy pleaseing, to me the street entertainment is where the value of WS is.

Oh well, I will always have pictures of them since on our last trip my daughter was pulled in to their act.
