8 Days or 10 Days?

Okay we are going to Disney in May but now I have decision to make. We can stay at Port Orleans French Quarter for 10 Days. Our favorite resort. Or we can stay at the Beach Club for 8 Days. This would be the first time we’d stay at a Deluxe Resort. What would you do?

Two of my go-to resorts.

If you like to imbibe, I’d suggest BC, the stumble home from EPCOT is nice and short.

IMHO 10 is better than 8. I'd sacrifice the slight increase in accommodations for more time at Disney. With the crowds increasing and the difficulty some find in getting FP+ or the ADR's they want... the extra 2 days can be more valuable by allowing you more time to get things done. We also have been staying at POFQ on our trips and love the resort. I would jump at the chance to add in 2 more days extending my trip.

Depends on how much time you spend at the hotel. If you are pool people, than Beach Club will give you a better experience, even though its less time, it has Disney's best pool. It is also much more convenient since you can walk to Studios and Epcot, or take the boat, you can even Monorail to Magic Kingdom if you walk through Epcot, or just take busses. The Boardwalk area around the Beach Club is a great place to hang out and relax, and has some of the best restaurants on property (Shulas, Trattoria al Forno, etc). If the hotel is for sleeping only, take the extra 2 days. Personally I'd probably split the hotels to do Beach Club as long as we could and then toss in another hotel to hit the 10 days, Disney makes hotel swapping very easy, they'll transfer your luggage for you so all you have to do is check in again.

We usually do 8 days at the contemporary, but arrive a day early and stay at another hotel for one night. Last trip we did all stars this time were either doing Beach Club or AKl for a night.

I'll always go for longer, even if it means a step down in room level.. (currently we are double booked, BC and PO:FQ for a trip in March, waiting to see if rates or finances change between now and then, where we will drop one), to account for a bad weather or illness day. Seems every trip someone gets the crud (I blame the enclosed petri dish hurtling a mile above the ground), and ends up spending a day in the room feeling awful, plus those two extra days make for a nice buffer to do all the stuff we always plan on doing, but never seem to get around to doing.. (like touring other resorts, or a fireworks cruise, or in this trips case, the monorail bar crawl).
