Pre-Trip 8 days in WDW with in-laws! scooters in future? holy crap!

Well here we are, 73 days out of a trip planned two years ago. It started with just five of us going to Contemporary garden wing. What a great deal we got, then my daughter decided she wanted to go and skip 7 days of high school, she is a freak with school, a good thing, the other three kids are in elementary, so they dont really care. So we looked around, and decided to try the Royal rooms at POR, new rooms with a theme and affordable. Our last trip we stayed at CBR, but had a bug issue and got upgraded to Grand Floridian, WOW! But anyway, we thought CBR was a bit beat up and decided to move on to POR, as we have visited there, stayed at POFQ, and really love the grounds, but the rooms sold us. Have you see the pics? And thanks to Evilqueen for posting pics and comments on the resort, as well as Real Madhatter. Now we have two rooms booked to fit us all, great! Me and the wife can have a room to ourselves and the kids can all share. Let me give the cast now, myself Jimmi, wife Joanna, Lexi (15), Nikki (11), Sal (10), and princess Taylor (8). So now we are all booked, ADRS are made. The high lights are Narcoossees', Mama Melrose Fantasmic package, Tepan Edo, Ohanas, Cape May (breakfast), and Trex. Might split somewhere to get another TS, but up in the air. If at worst, we plan Wolfgang Marketplace or earl of sandwich. Who doesnt like flatbreads or meatloaf?!!! Now comes the interesting part, my in laws want to come. "Hey, you have an extra bed, can we come?" Why not.

I love to go to Narcoossees and always plan the dinner during Wishes. I celebrated a milestone birthday there and it was one my best birthday's ever! The time will fly until you are there....

We tried to make reservations during wishes, but with a party of eight, you have to eat before 5. Which I think is BS! But whatever, we will eat there and then head over to POLY for drinks and watch from the beach.

Thanks! It is so close, but so far away. Cant wait to get there and do food reviews, as I am a chef. Very critical of food. Wish I could afford all 2TS places, but who does not? Oh Well! Anybody have tips on Trex?
We had an ADR for Rexy last year..Just wanted to see the theming and have a good old blast.Turned out to be great night..Blue ice cave room is awesome,,try for that. The cocktails were very strong, everywhere I looked I swore I saw more than one dinosaur..We all had steaks..from T- Bone to Strips..again awesome..Noisy yes..Fun yes..;)

I didn't think Narcoossee's opened until 5pm? Do they do special bookings for parties of 8 or more before 5? Cause we tried to book earlier than 5 and it said the hours were 5pm til whenver, like 10 I think.

Can't wait to read all about your adventures when you return!! I loved your last TR. Who knows, maybe you'll get another surprise upgrade! ;) (But hopefully not due to bugs this time!! lol)

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Cant wait for Trex, just something different for us and should be fun for the kids. I love me some good drinks too! Narcoossees' does open at five, I just checked and it's 5:30, same difference, still way earlier than I wanted, but have got to try that surf n turf.

Now with the in laws. They are old school Italian, with the broken language and everything. Dad is retired from a Chevy plant and continues to deliver the paper, he just cant not do something. He moves slow, but that will help me, as now I can in more and get more pics. Mom is the relaxing one, just takes her time. I am sure that at some point in the trip I am going to have to break off with the kids and book it, I can only be a turtle for so long.

This will be our first trip with the inlaws ever! So it should be interesting. Dad loves food, so he will be in heaven, and the fact that it is free so to say, made him really excited. Wait til he gets his first Mickey bar.

Now for me, I lost a bet with my wife. we made a bet on who would win celebrity apprentice. We had to pick who would win in the finals. The loser has to wear a t-shirt or hat related to disney, and as many of you know, there is a lot of crazy things out there. Well, I got a hat on fathers' day. The only thing is, she bought it online and turns out to be a miniature hat for your car or as a collectible, the only thing though, is that it came with a chin strap!!!!!! Now I have to wear this mini hat with goofy ears for a whole day. LOL Only me could this happen to.

Thanks. I will take any upgrade anytime. Not planning on it and hoping nothing will be wrong, this is why we planned on the new Royal rooms. Everyone has great things to say about this place.

PORS was our resort of choice the night before our cruise in Sept. We got a bounceback email and booked but then the opportunity came up to switch to the Poly for that night so we jumped at the chance. We do hope to stay at PORS soon though. It looks like such a beautiful property! Can't wait to read your reviews about it!

Ok, so I was reading another thread about unpacking and do you put everything away or live out of the case. This made me think, because I put it all away and make it like my home, but this year I will have two kids in my room. I know how they are at home, leaving clothes and towels on the floor, uh uh, not happening in my room. My kids have always had there own room on vacation, and well, it was not the neatest of things. Everyday i would have to go in there and help them clean it, because I have respect for the mousekeeping, plus it is just me. Now I have to figure out which two I want in my room this year, because there is no way I am sleeping in the same room with my inlaws! They get two kids, i get two kids. Know matter what, I get a mess. Anyone else have this problem with kids? Oh the joys of having to clean on vacation when the is mousekeeping, isnt that what kids are for? This trip will have to change that, 15 yr old Lexi will be in charge of that in my room at least.

Ok, less than two months! We are excited, but want to enjoy are short summer that we have here. It has rained for 16 days straight, a record that dates back to 1906. So that means we have not been able to use the pool, more grass cutting (ughh), and just a miserable time for the kids because they cant do too much outside.Today is supposed to be 92 degrees, which is WDW weather in September, and I love it. So last night we had our home days festival fireworks ( dad loves them), which are right in our backyard and remind me of EPCOT somewhat, only because of location, no inferno barge, just great views. And that is what reminded me to post here and update this thread, so here is the itinerary.

Wednesday 9/11: fly out of CLE at 9:00 AM, Arrive MCO 11:30 Hop on DME, check in at POR, grab a taxi to HESS for snacks, pop, water, and BEER. That afternoon we plan on going to EPCOT, do a little future world, SOARIN and Test Track for sure because of the kids, yeah right, for me. Then it is off to WS and Tepan Edo. Have not been here in a while, and thought it would be fun for the whole family. The menu does not wow me, but it is for the show and the whole family being together. If anyone has a better suggestion for dinner for a party of 8, please reply as to where, remember, it has to be 1TS.

Thursday 9/12: MGM, whoops, I mean DHS. This the one park my inlaws should really enjoy, because of the shows and street performances. The kids, and me of course, love the attractions. TOT first up! Nothing gets the day started better than a quick 13 story drop down, then up, then down, then up, then ? I read really good reviews of Starring Rolls Cafe, so this will be a new place to try a snack, suggestions? We got a Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose, their menu looks good again, and their food is pretty good. I like the new seating for the package, it is in the center now, not far right, but that could really suck at the end with crowds, as we normally high tail it right out of there to the bus, but got the inlaws, who move at a snails pace. WOW, this will be interesting.

Friday 9/13: Our five year Anniversary! Has it been that long already? WOW! It has been fun. This is Royalty day. Magic Kingdom. Now I am not how many of you reading this remember me as the ahole, but I was the one who started a thread on anyone over the age of 12 can no longer go to Bibiddi Bobbi Boutique to get their hair done, that was a slugfest thread, but any ways, all the girls, including mom inlaw, will be going elsewhere to get their hair done to look like princesses. It's what they want, and little taylor has to have it, because this year she is Tinkerbell this day. While that is all going on, me dad, and Sal will hit MK, do the INDY car racers, maybe Space if dad is up to it, MILF, Buzz Ranger Spin and definitely Main Street Bakery, or Star bucks, whatever it is called for some delicious pastries. Now I know that DHS has Villains Day, but that is why we are not going there, Limited time Magic will pack that place for one day, and we do not want to be there that day, the insane crowds, no way. Speaking of 5 year anniversary, any suggestions on something cool I could do for the wife?

Super exciting!!! We head down on 9/11 from CMH! I hear you about the rain... We got that storm last week that knocked trees down everywhere, including the 80' trees from the school next door that landed all in my yard and ripped through the other neighbors house... Luckily they have a good insurance company and they are repairing the house super fast....

But I can't wait to go "home". It will be a great time!

Ok, finally a day off, let's keep this rolling. I'm thinking of maybe some roses and champagne to the room, but that is so boring, gotta kick it up a notch. Maybe a Dooney and Burke or whatever purse, or a night out without the kids bar hopping, that's my thing. Grab some drinks and food, watch some fire works, and just enjoy the night. I know, more money with no presents, but it is the memories to remember, if we do. Ok, so after whatever happens on the anniversary, the next day has to happen. Here is what is funny, I am currently watching Anthony Bourdains Lay Over, and he just ripped on Samantha Brown, LOL! What a coincidence.
Saturday September 14, no parks planned,we will let the kids pick where they want to go. We were thinking of a waterpark, but which one is better? Dinner that night will be at T-Rex, a first for us. looks like a fun place, and @realmadhatter says it has good food. I am still up in the air about it, but what ever, it seems all restaurants down there have really cut back on the menus, what a er. I hope the dinosaurs don't crap in my food:D, that would be a sh-t! This night we will also do some serious shopping, well maybe not me, but the kids and in laws. Me, i want to hit up HOB, grab a beer, and hope for some good act to show up.

Ah, the 15th, Animal Kingdom and Ohana's. This is an easy day. Go late to the park, see some shows ( love Flights of Wonder, the bird show), get some good drinks at Yak n Yeti, and some take out Chinese food, basically that's what it is, but it's good. Sit by the river eating my spring rolls, pork fried rice, and orange chicken, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, can taste it now. That and an Avalanche cocktail, total peace. I love AK! It has Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, Finding Nemo, Expedition Everest, Kilamanjaro Safari, drinks, beer, drinks, and did I say beer? Festival of the Lion King, funnel cakes, sweet delicious funnel cakes, with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce, a once in two year thing. It only takes about 5 hours, go back and change for dinner, the glorious dinner at Ohana's. Ressies made so we can watch fire works, Wishes, from either inside or out on the beach. There is nothing better than wood fire grilled meat. Those tasty wings, pot stickers, and bananas foster bread pudding. The kids love the coconut race. Dad will love dinner, as he likes to eat, and this place has variety, he will be in heaven, like the rest of us. lapu Lapu in my future!:D

My suggestion for Starring Rolls is absolutely the red velvet cheesecake cupcake! It is sooooo good. My sister also says the chocolate peanut butter cupcake is awesome as well, but I have yet to try it. I can't bear to order something other than the red velvet one whenever we go there, which is usually twice per trip!

Never tried Starring Rolls, but I will this year. It has so many great reviews. Chocolate and peanut butter, love it. I want to try the butterfinger one.
