These renderings are “the plans.” They are very much what the architect is working from as they are one and the same.

Very true. Same software, different means of displaying the same information.

EDIT: I worded my response poorly...the architects can work from the plans without a rendering - just like they used to create models to show clients, now they create 3D renderings.

There is not even that sort of distinction. The work to create a 3D rendering, a 3D digital model, is what the architects work from and what is used to create the plans.

it looks like they won't have 4000 rooms at the two new resorts
from the Orlando Sentinal
"One hotel will have 2,050 rooms and the other will have 750 rooms. Add that to Aventura’s 600 rooms, scheduled to open in August, and Universal’s on-property total will be 9,000 units. The two newest hotels are set to open in summer of 2019.
Set to begin opening in the summer of 2019, the hotels will feature a combined 2,800 guest rooms, including 1,450 two-bedroom suites designed to accommodate families of all sizes. Both options will be value-driven, with nightly rates starting below Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Universal’s Aventura Hotel.

In March, Universal submitted plans with the city seeking approval to build up to 4,000 hotel rooms on the site of Wet ’n Wild, which closed at the end of 2016. Universal spokesman Tom Schroder declined to elaborate on whether the additional rooms are planned."

Wish they would consider making the Avatar themed show a permanent show in Disney Springs then do whatever they want for Universal.

There is a DreamWorks Resort planned. It appears now that it will be at the new property. There is also a Cirque du Soleil Resort planned.

I wonder if this means a Cirque du Soleil show will be coming to Universal Orlando similar to the Las Vegas resident shows. If Cirque bought Blue Man, does this mean they are working now with BOTH Disney and Universal?

Cirque has shows all over the world. Some in the same cities. They are all unique while employing many of the same stunts and techniques. The water show is very impressive.

Indeed, I believe there are currently six (6) Cirque shows currently running in Vegas alone (Ka, Love, One, Mystere, O, and Zumanity)... no reason there couldn't be two in Orlando if the market supported it...

Per Universal's Blog Post This morning:
https://blog.universalorlando.com/w...ouncement/?__source=av.FBPAGE&linkId=44375947

"Not one, but TWO new hotels are coming to Universal Orlando Resort.

And here’s the best part… Both hotels will offer our lowest price tag yet, with nightly rates starting at less than $100.

Of course, when you stay at the new hotels you’ll enjoy the awesome benefits that come with staying at a Universal Orlando hotel. Early Park Admission to our three theme parks, complimentary transportation across the destination and resort-wide charging privileges are included.Universal's Aventura HotelBut don’t let that price tag fool you. This new hotel complex will be a destination unto itself. Guests will enjoy the sun, surf and sand with a laid-back coastal feel. Vibrant and natural colors will set a free-spirited and beachy tone, inviting you to hang loose and enjoy your family vacation. Not to mention three pools, poolside bars, two food courts, coffee bars and fitness centers, just to name a few of the amenities.

So to recap, that’s theme park thrills, exclusive benefits and a seamless Universal Orlando experience with nightly rates starting below Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Universal’s Aventura Hotel.

The new hotels will be located at the intersection of Universal Blvd. and International Drive, just minutes away from Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Universal’s Volcano Bay and Universal CityWalk’s dining and entertainment options."
