Try riding BTMR at nite right when fireworks are going off. GREAT!!!!!!

7dmt vs thunder mountain

BTMR all the way. 7DMT was just so short. It was over before it started in my eyes. On BTMR you think it is over and you are going up another hill.
I came away disappointed in 7DMT. I was hoping for more side to side movement in that style of car. Glad I was able to get a FP+ for it and didn't wait in line for it.

Completely different attractions with different purposes. To me, it's hard to compare because the only thing they have in common is they are a type of coaster.
Honestly, I look at 7DMT as a dark ride that happens to be a coaster. It doesn't define the ride. Big Thunder has to be a good coaster because without that, it's not much.

BTM will always be my favorite ride....the only thing better would be an even longer BTM with similar theming.....woo hoo! Love the music, the decor, the billions of details through out the ride itself....the queue...the ramp down in anticipation...the cacti outside and geyser simulations....the colors....EVERYTHING!!! One time I talked a young boy into riding who was in panic ahead of me in line....I told him it was MY favorite ever and I just could not ride it enough, and he would love it. I saw him afterwards and he was asking mom "again?" of course I want to ride the new one, can't have enough coasters of intermediate thrill level themed out for me....SDMR will add to my park experience but could not diminish my love of BTM. 
We had fun seeing it come to life the past few years.....and being that Splash was closed last trip I am itching to hit all the mountains in the MK asap...... Half the fun of the SDMR is seeing it from the outside and how well I feel it fits into the surrounding park.

and that IS the bestest thing!!!!!....and even better was the one time the CM let us stay on and ride again almost nonstop during fireworks....never ever will forget that...plus the line is sometimes nonexistant during parade and into fireworks!

BTM at night is a completely different ride...and much better in my opinion than the daytime version. Have not had time to ride 7dmt yet...so I will hold off on judgment for now.

If you like BTM at night, you've got to ride 7dmt at night too! Same kind of feel (to an extent)... we rode it at night, and I have to say I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much during the day. I can't really explain it, but it was definitely a cool experience.
