Just saw that they moved next year's wine and dine 1/2 weekend to the weekend of October 23rd. Anyone have thoughts as to why they moved it so much earlier? Princess weekend was moved as well!

Could be because Halloween would fall on the day of the 5k. MK traditionally decorates overnight for Christmas after the last MNSSHP. Tough to do when you'll have people running through parks early in the AM.

Why it couldn't be the following weekend is puzzling. Unless rD thought between race crowds & Veteran's Day crowds it would be unmanageable.

Pushing Princess back a week made no sense. Wouldn't that be start of Spring Break?

I could swear they've had it as late as Nov 7th/8th before, that's why I'm surprised they moved it so far up into October (given esp that late October mnsshp are pretty much always sold out).

The last party on Halloween night is always sold out.

But who knows?

The newer versions of Wine&Dine always correlated with Jersey Week, which always enabled me to attend. With the new dates, I am unable to miss so much school (and I am still in season as a XC coach).

I am thinking they wanted to remove conflict with NYC Marathon weekend, as I know the hosts always want to spectate and/or run. Do we think they have enough pull? Or were W&D numbers falling and they wanted to try a new weekend with less competition? Just thoughts.

Few things, the way the calendar fell, and park ops. The park ops team wanted no extra events that weekend due to the food and wine eat to the beat calendar.

Princess is just due to how the calendar fell really. Not a major shift. It’s always late February.

Halloween parties wouldn't effect the date since W&D doesn't run into MK (or anywhere near it). My guess is it had to do with spreading out crowds. They believed Halloween weekend would be incredibly busy and the next weekend would as well with Jersey week, so push it up one weekend when things aren't projected to be as bad to get people into hotel rooms.

I had overheard at Marathon Weekend that the decision might also have been runDisney wanting to move the event away from Daylight Savings Time. Not sure why, but it could be viable.
