I hadn't heard about these new statues. Where are they going at the MK, how many are there and are they permanent additions? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer my questions :)

I think I know what these are...I remember posting a long time ago about an article I read about these statues comming...

I think they are being made by the same people who did the Snoopy statues in minneapolis, Minnesota, if any of you knew about those. What they did was decorate all these different Snoopy statues and display them around the city. I think they are going to do the same thing with the Mickey statues and display them around the "World".

They sold a whole bunch of miniature versions of the different decorated Snoopy's, so there might be a bunch of these little Mickey figures for sale as well.

They are a series of "interpretive" Mickeys (a concept and term fraught with potential havoc) created by various "celebrities" in various fields.

After staying at WDW through some time this late spring, the horde of 700lb Mickey's will then hid the road and tour the U.S.

Before you roll your eyes too much though, the ones I've seen pictures really are pretty cool.

I'll try and get some pictures of them next week and forward them to Steve.

I cant wait to see these. I think most towns in American are doing some kind of statue thing like this or already have. I know Chicago had the cows, Minneapolis had the snoopy, Omaha, Nebraska, has the "J.Doe (person figure)", and Lawrence KS, had the jayhawks bird. Alof of these towns also sell small mini replicas of them. Thats be great, and im sure Disney will, have mini replicas eventually. Take Care.

What time is this press event on Tuesday -- we were planning to be at MK first thing Tuesday morning... will it be an all morning event?

I've never been in the park during a press shindig before... will it slow everything down tremendously, particularly with Eisner there? Perhaps I should pick another park for that morning.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated (I'm a big time planner, LOL!).

These statues sound like a great tribute to seventy five years of everyones favorite mouse. Currently the resort is celebrating Magical Gatherings so i think that it is awesome that the Walt Disney World Resort is going to install subtle tributes to everones favorite mouse throughout the resort. This is a sign that maybe we are returning to the glory days of Disney, as these statues will not neceassary bring a flock of guests into their resort/parks but they are still going to be added in tribute to both mickey and Walt. I think that these would be one of those small touches that Walt would of liked.

Holy cow!

Thats, thats a lot of Mickey statues. Where are these going, Im guessing they'll be spread through the parks but any certain areas? Like the director Mickey, chances are, there is one, could be placed at the front of the Studios or somethin.

How much did each of these cost?
