7 Years Ago TODAY...

I'm REALLY FREAKED OUT that it was that long ago that the ride closed. I can't believe how fast time is going once you reach late teen/early adult years.

I am so angry at myself that the last time we were at WDW prior to it's closing we never rode it as the line was too long. We planned on going back later and never did only to find out it was closing prior to our next trip.

It was one of my favorites as a kid.

For those of us not in the know :lookaroun could someone please describe this Toad and what made it soooo WILD.

Ok, I went to WDW in 1975, 1982 and 1986. For some dumb___ reason I can't remember this ride. Please tell me more about it. I understand that Pooh took its place, but I can't remember this ride. Don't get upset at me for asking, please. I didn't have parents who thought like we do. :(

 Was it really that long ago? I was there, too - I was on my first College Program, working as a custodial hostess in Fantasyland (and Liberty Square). I remember the crowds at the ride (it wasn't usually THAT crowded) and the tshirts. It was interesting, although I honestly wasn't a fan of the ride...(sorry)

It was a dark ride where you road around in Mr. Toad's motorcar with Motor-mainia, riding through the town, Toad Hall into a Train Tunnel and all the way to Hell.

Rent Ichobod (Spelling?) and Mr. Toad and you will get a clearer picture.

Sorry I can't describe it any better.

Mr Toad's Wild Ride was a story based on the book Wind in the WIllows where Mr Toad had an obsession with motorcars. So much so, he was in danger of losing Toad Hall becuase of his passion for driving (mrtoad is right, rent Ichabod and Mr Toad to get the full picture).

Anyway... the ride was a black light dark ride where you enter a car and get driven around on Mr Toad's adventure through the town. First through Toad Hall and then through the town. The ride made sharp turns and when it looked like you were going to crash, you either turned away or went through doors into the next room. The ride concludes with you running from the weasels (same ones used in Roger Rabbit) and the police, getting hit by a train and ending up in hell. Quite interesting. The ride in WDW featured 2 load areas with each side being a different ride. To fully see all of Toad Hall you had to ride both the right and left sides of the ride as one went through the librbary and the other the kitchen (I think). There is another site out there that has a virtual Mr Toad ride that isn't quite completed but still pretty good. DO a search.

Toad was a good ride. The song was catchy to sing along to.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad movie has the song in it.

And you thought the song in El Rio del Tiempo was catchy...
