7 Night Med cruise...

For those of you that have done a Med cruise, what were some of your favorite excursions? Things to skip? We've booked one for next summer (7 night next August - 3 stops in Italy, 1 in France) and looking forward to it! Though we've traveled to much of Europe, we have not been to Italy. Skip Barcelona recommendations - I used to live there.

Tammy's picture from her Med cruise made me go to the Med last year. I was all set to do the ports on my own but at the last minute my husbands concern on me doing them on my own swayed me to do DCL excursions and they were all wonderful.

VilleFranche did one to Monte Carlo and Eze, (loved it there).

La Spezia I did take the train to Cinque Terre on my own, it was easy and that too was amazing.

Rome, I did the excursion that was on the private train, to the Vatican, Patheon, Trevi Fountain and Colissuem, great tour and taking the train was really nice. Lots of walking, but never really felt rushed.

Naples, I did a signature tour that was out of this world. Expensive but so worth it, there was only 10 on a small van. First Pompeii, then to Positano where we had lunch, and then off to Capri.

I know you said skip Barcelona, but the best value excursion was a post cruise one to Montserrat. I think it was $69 half day tour that left from the port with your luggage stored underneath the bus and then dropped you off at 2:00 at several hotels. No way could I have made it to Montserrat in time to see the Black Madonna (need to be there before 10:30) as I would have had to go to my hotel to drop off luggage first then find my way to the train station. It is one of these post cruise excursions that can only be booked on the ship though and if there is not enough people it is cancelled, so make sure to have the DIY instructions.

This is fantastic, thank you, great stuff! We were thinking about heading to Firenze by rental car from La Spezia, then maybe hitting up Cinque Terre on the way back for some pictures... Good to know about the other two excursions too. DCL's site still isn't listing Port Adventures yet. Figure I'll probably have to wait for the new year for those to go up.
