5th gate

There are only so many theme parks you can do in a typical (american)vacation time period. Unless of course your a Brit coming here for a month. IMO a fith park would be overkill, we don't need anymore half day parks. Keep improving the ones that are already in exsistence.

If there were to be a fifth gate coming soon I hope that the imagineers have thought of something better than a coaster park for the most magical place on earth.
However, i think they should focus on the current parks (like everyone else has said). Especially MK and AK.

Another vote for keeping the parks they have in good shape.

Maybe a new park in like 2017...

Besides - does anyone have a legitimately INCREDIBLE idea for a 5th gate (not counting Night Kingdom as a gate)?

I think Disney needs to build up, not out right now. Work on expanding and improving what they've already got rather than building a whole new park that will have four rides and be good for a half day for 7 years until they get around to expanding it.

I don't think anybody would argue that they don't want to see Disney build up the parks they already have. Some parks like the Magic Kingdom need very little some like Animal Kingdom need a lot. Animal Kingdom needs so much that it could take twenty years to build that park up to a level like the Magic Kingdom enjoys. The studio's need about half of those attractions and Epcot needs about 4-5 attractions or a third of what the Animal Kingdom needs to hit those levels.

But that doesn't mean that they shouldn't build a fifth gate. Building a park takes about 5 years of planning and 5 years of constructing and another 20 years of smoothing the edges. Besides that, there has never been a time when Disney wasn't building a park and remodeling, planning or constructing new or refurbished rides and attractions. I could be wrong but I would bet that even when they built MK that they were still working on stuff at Disneyland.

I suppose the main reason they would have for a coaster park is too tap in the teen demograhpic. I know i don't live in Florida, but if posed as a resident teen, with spending the same amount of money for a day in a disney park or universal, i would probably go with universal, as for a teen it has more to offer in one day in terms of teen orientated rides. Not that im saying that Disney doesnt have enough for me (17) and my sister (20) to keep us entertained.

Although this is probably another issue entirely lol.

Being someone who usually comes to WDW in 2 week stints, i would love a 5th park. But the reality is i'll be coming to WDW as a parent before it happens.

Listen, MK has enough to do, but needs to be refreshed a little; Epcot, IMO, also have enough to do, but could use a brand-new e-ticket soon and some considerable refurbs; DHS, as we know, is getting a lot of attention and within 5-10 years might be on par with MK and Epcot; AK hopefully will get more additions once DHS is on track, and IMO needs wider pathways, more (innovative) dark rides, and another land.
There's a lot to be done before a 5th park is needed.

I would not be opposed to a fifth gate, but I do agree that it would be nice to spruce up the existing parks (not that I am complaining about their current state): The Magic Kingdom could use a new E-ride, a Fantasyland expansion and maybe even a new restaurant, Epcot also needs a new pavillion in Future World and World Showcase need to be fleshed out a little better or expanded, Disney's Hollywood Studios looks like it is gearing up for a new wave of attractions so no complaint there (except that an e-ride attraction would be ideal near the Lights, Motors, Action show), and Disney's Animal Kingdom just needs more stuff in general; a North American or Amazon Rainforest area would be truly inspired and the addition of Beastly Kingdom has great potential.
I do not have all my facts straight about Night Kingdom, but when compared with EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, it seems less inspired. If the Imagineers could come up with something as ideal as the aforementioned parks, I would be pumped for the addition. DisneySea wouldn't be a bad idea either. :king:

I look at the parks and I don't see major weaknesses in the Magic Kingdom. I think the addition of an E-Ticket (like Little Mermaid) would be gravy at this point, when the park is compared to the other 4. The refurbishment of Space Mountain will improve that park, but of the 4, it is last on the list for necessary improvements.

Epcot's Future World does have it's weak points when you look at Journey into Imagination and Universe of Energy, but those less intense attractions are necessary, and given the rumored upcoming refurbishment of Journey into Imagination, I'm not particular concerned with Future World either. I just wish they'd rename it Discovery World or some varient. World Showcase however is definitely in need of a blockbuster attraction. We've heard rumblings of Mt. Fuji making a return to the Japan pavillion, but my understanding is that Expedition Everest took some of the ideas for that, and the likelihood of that being created in it's original form are relatively slim.

Hollywood Studios seems to have a bright future, and it already has two high capacity thrill rides - the problem is they're right next to each other. I think the long rumored Pixar themed coaster is going to have similar capacity issues (See: Crush's Coaster) that Toy Story Mania has, and part of me is bothered by this trend of low capacity, high demand attractions (Soarin, Test Track, Toy Story Mania, and Nemo Subs at Disneyland). This can be diffused with another high capacity E-Ticket at another area of the park, presumably the backlot area.

I don't feel that the Animal Kingdom has glaring weaknesses other than DinoRama. However, I expect that to stay, as there are other locations for expansion that won't require the removal of attractions. Like many people on here, I would like to see Festival of the Lion King moved to Africa, and have Camp Minnie Mickey rethemed into something else, be it an Adirondack/North America area (where Pocahontas would fit in), or something completely different like the rumored Jules Verne area. It's well known that the original incarnation of Beastly Kingdomme won't be returning, but I have long been supporting the idea of a European section that would house many mythical animals. This could be placed in either the Camp Minnie Mickey section, or in the Flights of Wonder area.
