Can someone please let me know how the 50's Prime Time Cafe is? When we go this fall we'd like to try it...I heard it's a fun place to dine because the waitress is your mother and the waiter's are your brothers or something to that effect....LOL!!! Also, how did everyone like the Drive-In Sci-Fi place? Thank's for any help! :)

Cutey, to sum up what everyone here has been trying to say, it all depends on what kind of atmosphere you like. (As with all Disney restaurants.)

If you like interacting with the cast members and home-style food (at Disney prices, of course!), then the 50's Prime Time Cafe is a good fit for you. If not, you'll either not like it or even hate it.

If you like sitting in a car-like table (and possibly not looking at the rest of your party, if you're more than 2 people and some are in the back seat), and if you like looking at sci-fi movie trailers from the 50's, and you like food that can be questionable, then you'll like the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre.

Personally, I've eaten in both. I like Sci-Fi, but it's not a must-do. I love Prime Time, and I try to eat there once each trip.

Just my two cents.

I went to both and thought Prime Time to be MUCH better then SCI-FI. I thought Sci-fi was way over priced, and the food was not all that great. If you want to go there for the experience, go for dessert or something. Prime Time was good enough, but it was a been there done that for me...Once was enough. But then again , my daughter is young and enjoys the character meals, so the constant "when is Mickey coming" over and over again could've clouded my judgement.

I love 50's Prime Time. If your in a good mood and ready to have some fun, I would go there. If you need something really quiet, I would get room service. We thought the food was really good too.

50's Prime Time

The 50's Prime Time was great! Frankly, if you want a quiet little meal, this is not the place to go. The cast members can be quite forward and thoroughly caught up in the 'zany antics' of a 50's sitcom. For the BEST experience at the 50s PT, plan ahead (even have a little script of your own) and enjoy it! Have a 'tattletale' in your group! Remember to put your elbows on the table ! If food quality and price are your major considerations, do your homework and look at the menu et prices on www.wdwig.com. and know in advance what you can best afford. The most important thing is to ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE ! We have a family group of 10 adults and 2 children going in Sept. the 50s PT is going to be our 1st lunch! CAN"T WAIT!

I really liked both 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi. I thought the food and atmosphere were great. Sure its expensive but isn't that every theme park! HAHA.
You definitely have to go along with the fun like everyone has said. Of course, I think thats like alot things at Disney World.

Would recommend both! :sohappy:

We'll be going in Sept. also!!! We will try and make a trip then to this restaraunt sometime during our stay after hearing some positive reviews from everyone here! I have to admit none of us are a real outspoken group but hopefully the experience at this place will help us break out of our shyness...my dad always has something funny to say and I'm sure it will really embarrass him...LOL!!! It should be fun!!! :)

hey cuteypatooty78, you shouldn't have to worry about not being outspoken to much. I am kinda outspoken myself but most people I have run into seem to be able to get more into things at WDW and not care if they look silly LOL. Hey it is a magical place and makes us all like kids :king:

Glad to hear a lot of positive responses about Prime Time - after looking through Birnbaum's Book, it was the *one* place that we agreed we couldn't miss.

That and the fact the description of the interactive wait staff reminds me a bit of Ed Debevic's in Chicago - except a lot nicer. :animwink:

We went to both in May with the kids. Our older kids loved Sci-Fi so did we! The younger kids thought it was alot of fun as well. None of the kids liked 50's PT as much...it was more the adults that got the kick out of it. I thought price wise both were on par for Disney...the kids liked getting their food on Frisbee's and eatting in the car at Sci-Fi while watching the movies. If you haven't been to either before maybe do an early lunch at one and a late dinner at the other...both are great places to sit down and cool off! Highly recommend making priority seating..even if you just do that the morning of your visit.

i went there for lunch the first time two years ago for my honeymoon loved it so much went back for dinner that same trip the waiters and waitresses were funny and embarassing but kept me entertained the food was great .
We went two weeks ago the waitress was ok not like two years ago not very lively but heard other waitresses in the restaurant being lively the food was really bad this time the fried chicken had really no crust like it had two years ago and the mashed potatoes were ok not the greatest my mom had pot roast that was over done i would not recommend the restaurant if you want good food the only great thing that was still good there was the pbj shakes I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE RESTAURANT BECAUSE I LOVED IT TWO YEARS AGO

I love it there, and my parents love it more. as they say it is like "being back in mom's kitchen". I like the interaction with the staff, it makes for a good time. and the food is pretty good. the desserts are way better. :)

hey all!! Ill tell you I love the 50's Prime Time Cafe. It is one of the very few restaurants that we eat at every time we go!!! I love the food and the antics although the last time we went it was a bit quieter than usual. I stopped in the Sci-Fi and got seated for a light lunch/snack as we had PS for 50's later that day. We looked at the menu and promptly left. It just may not have been the venue for what I was looking for though. As far as prices, I am from NYC so there isnt much in Disney that shocks me. I actually think 50's is rather middle of the road!! A nice meal at a good price. better than the hamburgers and fries which only cost a few bucks less!! I prefer real food!! Good luck

If you're not sure whether you'd like Prime Time stop in for just a milkshake, or something light and sample the atmosphere. Or, just go in and sit in the "lounge" for a few minutes.

We've always loved it. If you're looking for a good way to start your trip off and get you in a "Disney" frame of mind try Prime Time for lunch on the first day of your trip.

Hi, We had a good time with the chit chat...you really need to be in the mood for it. My 5 year old grandson liked it. The food was OK.
The most fun place at which we dined was at the Hoop de Doo Revue. I laughed until my side hurt. All of us rate that as our favorite. Sandie
