5 adventurous eaters + 1 very picky eater

Hi everyone! Time is approaching rather quickly to make our dining reservations, but my group and I are finding it hard to pick out places to eat together because of the one picky eater in our group. I sincerely empathize with her, since I used to be a picky eater. She will eat foods like hamburgers, chicken (preferably fingers, but she's willing to "try" other kinds of chicken), pizza, and steak. She might even eat some sort of sandwich. While I can appreciate being a picky eater, it's kind of holding the rest of us back. Does anyone know of restaurants with an interesting menu, but also has some food that is okay for a picky eater? It would be super helpful! Thanks!

Many buffets have a wide selection of foods (Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, 'Ohana, 1900 Park Fare) . Tusker House in Animal Kingdom is a buffet and has a ton of African inspired dishes as well as a section with american dishes. Teppan Edo in the world showcase has Japanese dishes, but they also have chicken and steak based foods.
Coral Reef in Epcot has a lot of fishes, but they do have a couple chickens and steaks. Mama Melrose in Hollywood Studios has standard spaghetti, if she's okay with that, and many not so common pastas. They also have flat-breads and one of them is basically pizza. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian has steak, chicken, and sushi and fish dishes. Pretty much everywhere at the Magic Kingdom would have something on the lines of hamburgers and steaks. I'm the same way she is and in the past all of these places have had at least one thing I liked. :)

Agree with @WedwayPM , if you're not going to be on the dining plan, your picky eater can do the kids menu. Pretty standard kids menu stuff everywhere.

If you're gonna be on the dining plan, she won't be able to do that though.

She can do it on the dining plan, but it wouldn't be worth it. I was there not that long ago and ate off the kids menu at a couple places on the dining plan.

If you are an adult, you can not eat from the kids menu on the dining plan. You must eat from the adult menu. If they are on the kids dining plan, then that would be the only way.

If I'm wrong in this, please let me know, but I'm pretty sure that you can't be on the dining plan as an adult and order off the kids menu, unless you don't use credits and pay OOP for the meal.

Nope. When we ate at Akershus I asked if I could get the pizza from the kids menu and was told it was fine, it would just count as my adult table service credit still. The waiter even offered to bring me two pizzas instead of just one.

I think 5 adventurous eaters out number 1 very picky eater, a buffet would suit all .
That might just be your best option. In EPCOT you could always split up when doing qs. Tangerine Café and qs in America are close enough to try something wonderful and a bit exotic and the other can go and grab burger and fries.

I'm going to agree with the buffets as well, 1900 Park Fare was a great one (we tried this for the first time last month) as there were so many choice of meats, veggies, soups, salads and desserts. The kids buffet had mac 'n cheese, chicken fingers as well as hot dogs and a few other things. Pecos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's in the MK, Sunshine Seasons in The Land in EPCOT are a few more choices. Hit up the menu section and have them make a choice or 2 and see what they will eat in places you want to eat in as well. Good Luck and have fun!

I think Sanaa might be a good choice, if you stick to the Tandoori options. I went with one picky eater and one semi-picky eater, and they both liked it.

Frankly, there's nothing terribly exotic on the WDW menus. There will be at least one "picky eater" option no matter where you eat. I honestly wouldn't put too much thought in it. Let the people who enjoy dining be the ones to make the dining decisions. Your friend won't starve.

You'll be fine at most table service restaurants. If she can't order directly from the children's menu, then they will work on something comparable...there is flexibility, just ask.

I don't know how many days you are going to be there or how many ADR's you are planning, but how about letting each person pick one place, then do buffets for the rest or something like that. My niece is extremely picky. Her mom tells her that if she doesn't like anything on the menu that she doesn't have to eat; we will stop later someplace to get her chicken nuggets or whatever quick service she wants. But she is never allowed to complain and ruin the meal for the rest of us. The amazing thing is that she is always able to find something she will eat. Ask the waiter and he might even have suggestions or something special the chef can do. I've found that some chefs even sort of enjoy the challenge.

Reviewing the menus before hand is the best option. I had 2 picky kids when they were growing up and we always let each kid pick out at least one place to eat (we still do that to this day as one is still a bit picky) and one of the best places we ate was at Boma at the AKL. All the food sounds weird, but if you look at the descriptions it's just different names for food we all eat everyday; the spicing is a bit more exotic (because how many of use cook chicken with cinnamon?), but isn't hot spicy.
We recently ate at Be Our Guest (they all had steak, potatoes and green beans while I had lamb chops, pureed celery root and broccoli rabe), and it was wonderful, Via Napoli in EPCOT (they had pizzas while I had a wonderful chicken salad) and of course our all time favorite breakfast - the breakfast skillet at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL.
It takes a bit of planning and give & take on EVERYONE'S part, but it can be done; and when all else fails just split up for meals and meet up later.

Tell her to grow up and not ruin the experience for others?
