So, since the holiday was just upon us... How do the pyro people set up a display such as the one from MK? I mean, there were about 10 locations if I remember where they were shooting off from around the park and way over on bay lake... Does the music play independently from the fireworks? or is it all done by wireless connection to all the remote sites or what? Thankyou so much in advance...

Once Boo52  reads this (after a well earned rest from performing 2 major displays in 2 days) I`m sure he`ll fill you in

I saw the Fireworks Bat signal Martin and came running. The fireworks for the 4th start planning back in January. Things really start coming together in May and June. We started loading the 3rd's show on the 2nd. The show utilized 21 different firing locations. (1 Main Sites, 1 Island Site, 9 Perimeters, and 10 Rooftop Locations) It took a crew of 17 about 7-8 hours to load the show. The music track has a SMPTE Timecode imbedded in it that the computer reads. The show is programed to the timecode. It took 3 computers to fire tyhe show. One for the island site, One for the rooftops in the park and One for the Main Site and Perimeters. 7 of the perimeters are directly wired to the computer and 2 of the sites were wireless. It took aproximatly 1 mile of cable to hard wire the perimeter firing site. The total shell count for this 4th was around 1500 pieces. It was one of the largest shows ever done at the MK.

Just out of curiousity... is there an overhead map exsisting anywhere that shows the location of the perimiters? I'm always interested in that kind of thing. :)

Thankyou boo52 for the wonderful explanation on how it all comes together. Since you are obviously the EXPERT on the whole show, I have just a couple of other questions if I may. With part of it being wireless, it must be some serious equipment to do that with enviromental factors and any kind of delay and all coming into play? Also, is there a person located at every launch site during the show in case of a mishap or anything like that? And I know this is stretching it, but do you know of any pics of these sites out of curiosity? Thankyou again.

Most of the firing systems at the perimeters are in a small briefcase that is built to withstand some weather. The firing systems are no more than a computer and a firing module. The ones we use on a daily basis for Wishes is a little more complexed, but you can go here (http://www.fireone.com/product_overview.htm) to see the basics of what I'm talking about. Yes there is a person located at every firing site with the exception of the in park stuff. The park shooter monitors all the rooftop firing location by video. Sorry i can not post any photos due to security concerns.

Thats VERY cool... Thanks for all the info. I looked on that website you linked to and read something that mentioned that certain things can be linked by regular 2 wire lamp cord.

Which bring me to a different question. On monday we were riding the train around MK and was in the back area behind fantasy land, where its pretty thick brushed, and I noticed strung in the bushes on the right side of the train was what looked like some radio shack speaker wire in copper/silver braid, and it ran for several hundred feet that i could see it then disapeared somewhere. Is that possibly related or something totally different?
