Does anyone know what special events are going on at WDW for the 4th July. This is my first time being at wdw (or even the USA) for the 4th. I know it will be very busy but wondered what special things Disney will be doing and on what days.

The main special event for the 4th is special fireworks at MK and Epcot, usually adding some special patriotic finale to the usual show. The Electrical Water Pageant also has a special Independence Day show, viewable from the Magic Kingdom resorts at night. In addition, the parks are often open longer (both in the morning and at night) to cope with the increased crowds. I don't have any specific timings for any of these, but the official WDW website is one of the best places to look.

We were there July 4th this year and watched fireworks at MGM ... we chose there for the novelty of seeing fireworks over Chinese Theatre again (and the pesky hat!!).... plus, we were travelling with a 10mth old and didn't fancy braving MK crowds all day in the summer heat. Got into MGM at 8.55 with fireworks at 9 and had a great view.

the best 4th fireworks are epcot they do a whole show behind the american show case. it is great. but have to stand on the other side of the lake to see it, like on the sse side. trust me you havent seen fire works till you seen these. they do fantasy in the sky with 360 at mk, there actully great too. so crap um either is great. epcot it open till 10pm and mk is open till either 12 midnight or 2am depending on how the crowds look the week before they might adjust.

We are in WDW every year for the 4th. I stay away form the Magic Kingdom and find we have settled into MGM for the holiday. It is still crowded but not so bad. Fireworks are wonderful and you can see them from all over the park. They usually pass out a simple flag pin on that day when you enter the park. Have a great trip!

There isn't that much special going on in the parks considering it is one of the busiest days of the year, but you do get special fireworks shows as others have said.
