I have been staying at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Downtown Disney for over 10 years now, and all I can say is that the bus service is really beginning to get on my nerves. I am a huge Disney lover just like most of you are, but I believe the Downtown Disney bus service is in serious need of shaping up. On some occasions the buses air-conditioning is NOT working (which is bad when its 95 degrees out and your surrounded by tons of people). Some drivers are also very unfriendly, like when I stay at Disney hotels sometimes, the bus drivers are the nicest people interacting with most of the passengers, which I enjoy. Another problem is the loooooooong waiting time to get to a park or to return back to the hotel, you have to give yourself like 45 minutes to an hour just to transport back and forth, its crazy. I honestly believe that this service needs improvements, if anyone have any other problems they see, lets hear them! Have A Magical Day everyone and stay safe!

I think you may already know this, but I am going to mention it anyway. The Downtown Disney resort Buses are not operated or afiliated with Disney in anyway but the name.

Wow - did you just say that you spend your money at a double tree and not at a disney resort, and then complained about the disney buses. :D you are too cool! And I am totally serious. ;)

Also, which buses are you talking about? the one's that are on the resort system or the one's that go between the downtown disney hotels?

Just curious.

Personally I spend my money at the disney resorts and love love love the disney buses. Can't beat them!

Just my opinion of course.

Whenever we go to Disney World, we use this cool invetion for our transportation... What it called... Oh yea, a car :p

Don't mean to be offensive or anything, just saying that it's a lot easier than the stupid busses.

He complained about the Downtown Disney resort buses(see my above post). I think he actually complemented the WDW buses.

Buses are on disney property, which in a way should have a little kindness.
But Disney doesn't pay for those bus drivers, so there attitude doesn't effect thier paycheck like a Disney driver's would.

You forgot to add in that you can't get to Downtown Disney from a theme park via bus.

Seriously, if you don't like the buses, take a taxi. That's what I do.

I had a similar experience with the DTD Resort Busses. Tried doing the Marketplace->Resort->Theme Park thing a few times, but it was still a huge hassle. I ended up deciding to just take the first bus going from my hotel to any park, then picking up transport from that park to where I intended to go. Getting back was a different matter entirely. Anyway, during that vacation, I swore I would never stay at a non-Disney resort again while down there. It was a lot more trouble than it was worth.

So are other outside busses. I have stayed at those resorts before and I can say that unless things have changed, those ARN'T Disney Run busses. Confusing, yes. Bad for business, yes. Sorry for your bad busses, mabey nextime they will be fixed, or you could always stay on site.

We always stay on site and we love the buses. To me, they're easier than a car. You don't have to pay for gas, for one. Plus, you get dropped off at the gate of the park verses having to take a tram or something. But, to each his own. :animwink:

I've never dealt with the buses that the original poster was talking about, but they do sound quite annoying. So sorry to hear about your bad bus experience and I hope that your next trip has better transportation.

Actually he is correct. There are no buses from Downtown Disney to the parks, only to the resorts.

There are no direct routes. But you can take a bus to a resort then transfer....so technically, you can get to the parks from DTD by bus....

There is absolutely no function in doing that. Waiting for one bus, taking it to a resort, waiting for a 2nd bus, taking it to DTD, and then walking to your resort takes about as long as taking those ridiculous DTD busses. Beyond that, bus service to DTD starts quite a bit later than bus service to the parks, so if you want to get to the parks when they open, forget about it. Besides the crappy service, my big complaint was the fact that the busses are out in the middle of the parking lot. As you know, in the summer, it doesn't rain--it pours. So, being a reasonable person, I would stand near the wdw bus stops to stay dry, and when the DTD bus arrived, run out to it. But, more often than not, the bus driver would only stop for about 10 seconds, and then leave, as if he expected us to stand in the rain waiting for him. It was EXTREMELY obnoxious--we only stay at Disney Resorts now.

1. The question was not if it was a wise or quick thing to do, the question was could it be done.

2. Disneyland is not the happiest place on earth, WDW is. Ive been to both, I could fit DL in my back yard. DCA was a joke and the fact that I did not feel safe at DTD in Ca because of the gang presence was even a bigger reason why I would tell no one to go to DL....and thats just my opinion, not scientific fact or anything....

Disneyland is and will always be The Happiest Place on Earth. It's the original, and still the best. The Disneyland RESORT, on the other hand...

And if you're staying in one of the DD hotels, the best course of action would be to rent a car. Even when you're staying on property, a car is faster than busses because you don't have to wait, and if you're going from resort to resort to eat then a bus will take nigh on two hours. So in the DD hotels, a car would be most convenient.

Well wasn't the original question "can you take a bus"? In fact you can't. You can take TWO busses... but not "a bus".. so IMO the answer that you can't take a bus from DTD to the parks is in fact correct ;)
