I look for them to celebrate like they did for the 40th anniversary with a special add on tag to Wishes. Oh and don't forget the birthday button, guide map and cupcakes.
Wishes did nothing for the 40th. There was no tag.

Anyway, don't expect much except for merchandise, "limited edition" cupcakes, and an infestation of bloggers and lifestylers that day.

They did do perimeter fireworks with the regular show finale. I shouldn't have used tag. I would look for a tag to be added this year.

Magic Kingdom will probably (maybe) give out cupcakes and on the birthday pins write Happy Birthday Walt Disney World. Maybe a small character parade of 45 characters and that may be it.
they will probably give away cupcakes for $6.95 or...
Join your favorite Disney Character Smee in a very special mid afternoon celebration.
For a limited time, guests will have a special anniversary cupcake hosted by Smee from Disney's Peter Pan. Enjoy all the free chilled water you care to drink, and unlimited ride time on Stitch's Great Escape. For a special anniversary price of just $45.00 ( $39.99 children under 7)

Disneyland did something big for the 45th and the 40th...but rarely do we see the same level of celebration...

Growing up in So Cal I remember Disneyland was definitely big on the 5 year anniversaries- right up to 50, I think 55 was subdued by Disneyland standards...a rarity. But 25,30,35,40,45,50 all had significant commemorations.

Maybe they were so burned by the backlash with the pink cake castle that they decided not to do anymore big WDW birthday celebrations! Ha ha, I think it used to be a way to draw folks in to the California park, before they realized they could just put every southern Californian on a passport installment plan and solve their attendance problems that way.

Well Currently the Walt Disney World President (George Kalogridis) was the former Disneyland President. Maybe he will change the way anniversaries are held in Walt Disney World. I heard that he sent Disney Hollywood Studios Vice President on a trip to Disneyland to see how the park is run and ect.

Would be nice if they put some of those characters out for park guests once in a while rather than the Character Hunger Games mentality they have today when it comes to rare characters....
Marie and Lady Tremaine come to mind as of 2016.

If nothing special will be held for the 50th I'm might get disappointed. Especially after seeing the other anniversary parade created in the past.
