Starting to plan my parents 40th anniversary trip for Halloween 2016.

We are planning on doing the MNSSHP that night and are lookin to do a nice late lunch before hand.

Where do yall think would be the best place for such a special occasion? The group is 6 adults- ranging in age from 64 to 26. So we don't have to worry about children.

Anyone had any amazing experiences at one of the restaurants for special events?
Or suggestions for the best restaurant for a 40th anniversary meal?

Lunch is tricky. I assume you want to be at MNSSHP at 4:00 PM when your party tickets allow you in to the park. The table service places that are open for lunch are few, and they tend to be on the crowded side. There are a lot of good, tasty options, but my favorites don't have a particularly romantic or celebratory atmosphere. Nevertheless, I'll throw in my two cents:

Assuming you want to stay close to Magic Kingdom:
• The Wave Lounge. Infinitely cooler than the dining room, serves the full menu.
• The Grand Floridian Café. Crowd-pleasing menu, pretty dining room. Service moves at a sub-glacial pace, though.

If distance is not a factor:
• Hollywood Brown Derby. A nice signature meal, though being in a park, it's more casual than other sigs.
• Sanaa. Not at all convenient to the Magic Kingdom, but the unique cuisine is worth the trek.

Location isnt really a big deal, except that we wont be doing a park that morning.

So none of the signature restaurants are open for a late lunch, like around 2ish?

I just did a random search for a Saturday in May, lunch for 2 at 2:00pm, filtered for Signature dining only. I see reservations available at The Boathouse (DS), Fulton's Crab House (DS), The Hollywood Brown Derby (HS), Le Cellier Steakhouse (Epcot), Morimoto Asia (DS) and Wolfgang Puck Cafe (DS). So at the very least, we know those places are open for a late lunch.

We ate at the Captains Grille at the Yacht Club last month, and everyone in our group loved it. (I highly recommend the Chef's Pasta Creation.. I don't know how often they change it up.. it was super good)

Maybe the boathouse or Morimoto? I have not been to either so I can't judge but the Morimoto in Napa was excellent.

I agree, either Morimoto or The Boathouse would both be great options. Just ate at both restaurants last week. I enjoyed Morimoto slightly better than The Boathouse. But I also love Asian cuisine. So as long as all 6 in your party enjoy Asian cuisine, you cannot go wrong here. Love the way it is decorated. It has a very sophisticated feel. But The Boathouse also is very unique with the old classic boat decorations inside. Also, be sure to check out the dockside area of The Boathouse. The classic boats they have out by the water are very cool. There are some very cool outdoor seating options by the water here as well, which I'd recommend if it isn't too hot out, but in late October, it's probably going to be too hot for this.

One thing to note, you can make ressies for Morimoto and The Boathouse using Opentable.com and for Morimoto you actually will likely need to reserve here versus MDE because I had an issue with it when I tried using MDE. It did not show any times being available, however on opentable, it did. Also I didn't have to worry about being charged by Disney in case something happened within the 24 hour cancellation window.
