40th Anniversary Celebration now official?

Disneyland got Indiana Jones for its 40th, so I'll respectfully disagree.

I think we have a cause effect breakdown again. An attraction was being opened and marketing made the most of the event. Do you really think they said "lets add a new attraction for the 40th". I bet more likely they sat down and said "what will we have ready during the 40th."

Also, we are getting a new resort and the fle.... Isn't that enough? Sure they won't open on Oct 1st, but some of both will be open during the 40th year. Again, coincidence not necessarily plan.

Apparently they did artwork for DL's "50th" last year!

Kevin and Jody are huge Disneyland fans, not just hired guns, so I would give him the benefit of the doubt and call that a typo. They did do a lot for Disneyland's 55th, so my bet is that's what he meant to write.

No doubt at all in my view, definitely a typo. I just found it to be an amusing one. :animwink:

Oh, my...how extravagant. A new value motel and a cloned, by-the-numbers C/D-ticket dark ride.

When was the last time WDW opened a successful, cutting-edge ride (which is what IJA was when it opened)?

*crickets*

Hey, at least a limited edition 40th trading pin will be on sale.

And a special stage show, a unique song for the 40th, and displays around the park showing the "40 Years of Adventure."

And the Indiana Jones Adventure.

Uh, what's WDW getting again? A special merchandise event?

What? You guys didnt' hear that the Indiana Jones Adventure is opening on October 1st at the Magic Kingdom for their 40th too? Haven't you guys seen all the concept artwork and construction over there in that corner of Adventureland?

If only.

Wow, o.k. since there is nearly no way I will ever be at DL, I will take my cloned copy of a c/d ride. I accept that WDW now completely sucks and clearly will continue to suck in the future.

(I had a much longer post, but I trimmed it out.... its not worth fighting. Good luck being happy about anything, and enjoy your DL envy)

Once again I blame Meg and the broken Yeti. I just wish they had built a park in Florida that was so horrible that they had to spend over $1,000,000,000 renovating it :hammer:

Pioneering the Universe Within!
Mission: Space

Still the most technologically advanced ride on the planet.

I was about to respond the same way. It's a shame that the attraction got so much negative press when it opened, and it's potential has never been full realized. It's really a phenomenal attraction.

Hence the qualifier "successful." You can debate whether M:S is successful or not. I don't think it was the headliner that WDW expected it to be, and the negative publicity didn't help it, either.

Most advanced ride on the planet?

It isn't even the most technologically advanced ride in Orlando.

Just wish WDW would give me something to be genuinely excited about. That's all, really. I'd be delighted if they'd spend a billion bringing the Florida parks up to snuff. (Now to actually do that would probably cost billions and billions, but I digress.)

It is, for better or for worse. But who cares if it's the most advanced if the surrounding set up is poor?

Anyway, as for the OP, I think there will be some merchandise and a small dedication, but nothing over the top like the 25th.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but so long as wdw continues to be the top attended parks in the world, there is no pressure to perform. They are talking a lot about park crowds and the ever growing attendance numbers. I doubt we will see a huge e-ticket at mk or rocky anytime soon. Now AK could use something to help speed the overall resort crowds out a bit.

On what planet? Planet Carnie Ride?

Yes, like ToT, they took an existing concept and plussed the hell out of it, but M:S is hardly revolutionary. It's a super-dressed-up carnie ride.

They couldn't even do something decent with the video...the delivery method is awful, bad resolution.

I'm the first to credit something for technical merits even if I don't like it, but no matter how much they plus it, M:S is really just a UFO spinner prettied up (and at least in those you don't have to entirely seal yourself in a coffin).
