:sohappy: Just 33 days until we depart!!
I am looking for some hints about our trip. We are arriving May 4 and departing May 11. We have 5 day park hopper plus passes. My husband, me and our 4 year old son. This is my son's first trip to Disney. I am seeking any and all advice, especially concerning what we should NOT miss and what is OK to pass by for another visit. Food, rides, entertainment...... Go ahead and let me have the scoop. Thanks and God bless.

My kids aren't scared in HM either. It's dark but nothing "jumps out" and the doom buggy allows the kids to cuddle in close to Mum and Dad if they are a little nervous.

I would recommed starting out easy and judging for yourselves if your child can handle other rides like Snow White..some kids are afraid of this one, or H.Mansion. Same rule is good to follow with Character B'fasts as well. No sense spending the money if your child ends up being terrified of the characters..which I have seen happen with parents then saying..."JUST smile once..we are spending too much money on this to not get a photo!" I can just imagine how "great" those photos are! Just let him get used to the characters and rides the first day or two and then do the b'fast and rides that may seem too much for some kids!

We just got back from my daughters first trip. She just turned 5. We were there over easter and it was very busy. I would say go early but still everyone goes early. We had the best luck in the MK and AK going later. We hit AK at 430 and walked right into Tough to be a Bug and the river ride. (they were open until 7 that night) Also the crowds at MK really thinned out later--we watched the 8pm parade and then headed to fantasy land the crowd just kept thinning out and we went on all the rides toontown was good too.
Character meals are the best way for kids to get to meet and photo ops. There is a large amonut of waiting in the parks for character greetings. We did Chef Mickey's on our first night and it was a great way to start a vacation. Don't be disappointed though if your child's favorite attraction is the hotel pool. My daughter never wanted to get out:animwink:

I think "It's Tough To Be A Bug" is SCARY!!! It is so dark and spooky inside. My kids were just about OK, but there were others around us who were screaming in fear......and their parents didn't take them out. I felt so sorry for them.

I took my daughter when she was that age and her favorite character meal was Chef Mickey's. Don't miss out on that. The parades, as other have said, are a big hit with kids that age. Animal Kingdom is lots of fun, but Camp Minnie/Mickey is a mad house. I did not even bother with the lines to meet characters there. I just made sure we had at least one character meal a day. She was satisfied with that. Especially after I told her that we were special because mickey etc visited us while we were eating. Or I'd say, we can see him at dinner tonight we dont have to wait in line with all of those people. I don't like "fibbing" but i hate waiting a hour to see a character we were going to see at dinner. Enjoy your trip:king:

 I have decided on the following... Breakfast at Crystal Palace so that we are able to get into the MK early and the same deal with Breakfast with Donald at the Animal Kingdom. We are having dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK because we are planning on staying the ENTIRE day and i think a sit down meal and relaxation is the only way we are going to make it through. We are also having dinner at 1900 Park Fare (couldn't get into Chef Mickey's). The only available seating for Chef Mickey's was 9:15 or later and I figure if I try and take my 4 year old to dinner at 9:15 at night I would deserve what ever rough behavior I got. Not a good idea!
Have fun!

Well I know you will have a great time. When you get back please post and let me know what places your child liked best. We leave May25th and will be there for 10 days! I have made reservations for early b'fasts at some of the same places, I would like to know satisfaction level...was it worth the costs, lost of characters etc! Have loads of fun :)

Well, depends on what characters your children like the best. If I had to choose two, I'd pick Chef Mickey's (Mickey and Goofy) and Crystal Palace in the MK (Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet) If I had a little girl in my party, I would try for Cinderella's castle (Cindy, Snow, Belle, sometimes the princes and Sleeping Beauty, Dopey and Peter Pan) or 1900 Park Fare (Alice, Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter)

HTH Have Fun!!!!!! :)

Thanks for the info 2much2do. Cinderella's castle would be so neat and my DD would love it. How hard is it to get into? And, do I call the same WDW-DINE number for a PS? Any info would be a big help, as we are new at this. Thanks.

the "kid stations" they are great!! the girls loved them ..they had one at AK too when we went in 2000 and there was a craft table at the lobby of the poly. I know just what you mean about taking home what he made .. we still have everything the girls made ..but you know grandparents :)

just as most suggested ..do at least one charactor meal :)
the girls loved and still love the Honey I shrunk the kids playground. and the play area at toon town fair .. specially donalds boat might want to take a change of clothes though because its a wet play area :)

getting into cindys is hard but it can be done! I would recommed calling early you want to get through at exactly7am eastern time 60 days in advance, but they do get cancellations so keep trying and when you get to your resort call from there..unless you have concierge then they can get you in! I go early so you get into the parks before they open...get some great photos w/o crowds in the background! THose are some of my favorites
