Trip Report 4 Days is NOT Enough! COMPLETED

Hello Humans!

Welcome to my very first trip report! I got back from the World 10 days ago and I know if I don't start this report, I never will. So let's get started!

Who: Me and my Mama!

What: My first Disney trip as a travel agent, I sold my first trip to myself!

When: May 11-15

Why: I wanted to sell myself my first Disney trip and my husband wasn't quite ready to go back, so I texted my mom and said "Hey, want to go to Disney?? Just the two of us?!" And here we are.
I was really excited for this trip because my mom used to take us when we were little and then she would tag along with my sister, her husband and their 2 kids. She would always end up watching the kids or running around the park trying to keep up (my sister and brother in law are ALWAYS running late in Disney, makes me crazy ;)). So I decided I really wanted to spend some quality time with her And keep it somewhat more relaxed so she could go on everything She wants.

Day 1, May 11: Departure Day

So for some reason I decided it would be a good idea to straighten my hair before leaving for the airport... only giving myself an hour for that and finishing up my packing... needless to say it was a stressful morning lol. My husband came home to pick me up (he starts work super early) at 6am and we didn't get out of the house until 615. A somewhat stressful drive to the Nashville airport in traffic later and finally made it. Checked my bags and got through security in about 20 minutes. By the time I got to my gate I had about 15 minutes to spare (phew! I Hate being late... especially when flying!). So I grabbed a bottle of water and ate my nutritional breakfast.

I wrote some notes for this report and then took a selfie... I always feel weird taking selfies when I'm by myself... sorry it's a weird one lol. And as you can see, I didn't finish my hair.

Shortly after this is was time to board. I LOVE Southwest and every time I fly any other airline I end up regretting it. I was A30 something, so I walk onto the plane and right in the front row is an empty seat! Score!

[/URL

The woman sitting by the window and I were completely wasting the abundance of leg room, but it was nice to sit up front and I was one of the first people off :D. As you can see, I could barely reach the wall :hilarious:

I quick nap later and we were landing in Orlando!!!

Made it to the Fonorail! I LOVE these tiles :inlove:

Had to stop and take a picture of this handsome guy

Then is was over to DME to meet up with my mama! She flew out of Atlantic City and got to Orlando about an hour before me, but she didn't mind waiting. :)

The line to scan our bands to get on the bus was LONG, but then we got in a very short line to.... the Contemporary!!!!! :jawdrop::cool::D This was the first time either of us had stayed at a deluxe and we've been going to Disney for years. Needless to say we were EXCITED!

We were on the bus by 11:45 and were pulling out at 12 on the dot, so not too bad! I really don't like the new video :( it's just not as fun/welcoming as the old one was.

All I can say about the ride is, HOLY CONSTRUCTION! :jawdrop::eek: There was construction Everywhere! We didn't even get to go under the welcome sign... we had to go around it:rolleyes: because of construction.

While going Around the welcome sign, I got an email from Disney that our room wasn't ready yet. (I don't know why they were texting me, my cell is on my account). We figured this might happen, but I was hoping to go to the room to reorganize myself.

We were the second of two stops, just stopping at Wilderness Lodge before heading to...

After grabbing our carry-ons we headed to the front desk first to double check if our room was ready... it wasn't :(. But I was starving so figured we might as well get some lunch and see if our room was ready after that. So we headed over to Contempo Cafe for our first meal of the trip! Now I didn't get the dining plan for this trip. We both aren't very big eaters so I figured we'd mostly eat ice cream and snacks (I ended up being right ). So we decided on 2 kids burgers with fruit.

So good! The perfect amount of food, plus grapes and apples. This may be the only healthy thing I eat all trip ;)
We enjoyed our meals with this view

After our meal, we checked again at the front desk... room still isn't ready :cautious:. It's about 2pm at this point, so I knew it wouldn't be guaranteed but it was still kind of annoying. I had my purse and a backpack filled with a bunch of stuff I didn't want to bring around the parks with me. So I put most of everything in my purse into my backpack and left our stuff with valet. BTW it was HOT today, definitely the hottest of the trip, and now I had to carry around my purse . First world problems.

After this we headed to our first park... we walked to.. can you guess?! I'll post more soon!

Day 4, continued- Mother's Day

Ok, so after walking around a little and doing some shopping (I was looking for a cool/unique shirt for my picky husband) we were coming out of a bathroom in one of the countries (I had finished my margarita at this point and things are a little fuzzy :joyfull:). I finished my margarita, but it was still hot out so I was eating the ice. Well my mom and I are walking out of the bathroom and I was trying to explain something to her. I remember being frustrated because she just wasn't "getting" what I was saying (I think we all know that feeling). Mid sentence I go to get more ice out of my cup and for some reason I can't find the straw to push it back (out of the way of my face). Well I was clearly distracted so I don't realize that the straw is going up my nose until it's too late... I jammed it up there HARD. OMG it hurt SO bad! I started bleeding all over the place, and my mom not realizing what's happening, is standing there like "why are you bleeding??" She also finished her margarita at this point so I think her brain was moving slower. I finally convinced her that I really needed napkins RIGHT NOW and she ran and grabbed a bunch.:rolleyes::rolleyes::oops::arghh::arghh::arghh::mad::hungover::jawdrop:

So I was really upset and in pain for a few minutes, so we went off to the side of World Showcase and just sat on a bench until the bleeding stopped. And I think because of the margarita ;), I was able to get over it pretty quickly lol. I was still in pain but I was able to push it aside to keep going on our last night in Disney and in my favorite area of all of the parks. I hope I told it well enough for you to "see" it lol so embarrassing!

We continued on our way to our dinner destination, Teppan Edo! This was Mom's 2nd request when planning this trip so I delivered :).

I ordered the Japan Breeze (I needed a drink after all of that alcohol-infused drama :hilarious:)

SO GOOD!!

I ordered the chicken and steak and Mom got shrimp. Our chef (?) was amazing and super nice and our food was Delicious :hungry::hungry::hungry:. The only odd thing was that one of the vegetables was spinach. It was Very good, I've just never seen spinach served at a hibachi before so I just thought it was weird. After our nice meal, and chatting with our table mates who were from PA, we waddled our way out:joyfull:.

We had a FP to get to on the other side of World Showcase, Illuminations!!! This is my Favorite night time show, and I've never seen it from the FP area before so thought it was a great time to try it. Took a few photos on our walk over

Then we stopped in France and got two of these because we hadn't had enough food yet :hungry::)

Once we got to the FP area, we got in line and waited about 10 minutes before they let people in. In that time, I got in a conversation with the couple behind us who were from England (northern, close to Ireland). These guys were super sweet and we just talked about all things Disney :) I love Disney friends :D:D:D.

Once they let us in the FP area, most people went to the front but there was a slope, so Mom and I went to the top. This was our view

I LOVED watching from this area!! You could see everything perfectly! I didn't take anymore photos so I could watch the show, I love it so much :inlove::inlove::inlove: But I'm sure they will put something new in soon like everything else. I took this photo on our way out and just like that, our Disney trip was pretty much over :cry::cry::cry::cry:.

When we got back to the hotel, we could see the water pageant

Shortly we were heading up to the room to have some wine and get some Sleep! We had an early breakfast the next morning.. :D

Oh man! Too good....I really wasn't expecting that to be the embarrassing story, but I am glad it was. Awww, I hope your nose is okay now. Don't feel too embarrassed, we've all done silly things and have "hoped" no one noticed. If you read my Honeymoon TR, I lost my brand new shiny hubby after a few drinks in EPCOT :in pain:.

Loved your TR !

I was hoping that story wouldn't come across as lame, but it was pretty embarrassing at the time lol. People kept walking by me staring at the blood gushing out of my nose LOL. It's better now, but it did hurt for about a week.

I was expecting something way more traumatic, so I'm glad it was something you were able to get past quickly! I wouldn't be surprised if no one noticed...people are kind of in their own little world at WDW.
Lol, maybe it was one of those "you had to be there" moments. It was pretty dramatic at the time and people were walking by and staring at me, so that didn't help :)

Day 5, Monday May 15- Departure Day :cry::cry:

The previous night we came back to this on our door

We JUST got there, how could it be over so soon?! :arghh::arghh::arghh:

We got up and got ready quickly, we would be back later to finish packing up. We headed to the main building and hopped on the monorail to... The POLY. Where were we going for breakfast? Kona of course! :D This was actually my first time eating here, and I was very excited for this :). We were seated in about 2 minutes (after the hostess told is it would be about 15-20 o_O). We were seated on the right side of the room I had this view

I tried to get a better pic of these lights.. I loved these!

First thing I ordered was my beloved Kona coffee :inlove::inlove::hungry:. For breakfast my mom ordered the 2 egg breakfast and I ordered...

TONGA TOAST!

I really liked Tonga Toast... but I didn't really care for the banana stuff in the middle :in pain:... I would've been fine with regular french toast and that strawberry sauce :hungry::hungry::hungry:. But I'm so glad I Finally got to try it. Next time I'm going for those pineapple pancakes :hungry:.

Our DME pickup was not until 2pm, so we had lots of time left to finish packing and enjoy our last day in the bubble. After our leisurely meal, we waddled back out to the monorail and I got some photos I'd been meaning to take all trip.

I got a good shot of the 5 legged goat :)

While on our way back to the room, I had to stop for these photos too

After packing up and saying goodbye to our room :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:, we left our luggage with valet and went back up to catch the monorail.

Since we had already been to the Poly that day, we decided to head over to GF to check it out. Can you believe I've Never been inside this resort?! :jawdrop: I've only ever seen photos and what I could see from the monorail. I had to fix it.

I Loved the Grand Floridian! I especially loved those tiles :inlove:. I don't think I'll ever stay here (never say never), but I might have to book an ADR for the next trip :). We spent some time wandering through the shops, we didn't buy anything but it was nice to see some different stores.

I want ALL of these :joyfull:

And this too :D

We then went outside and strolled the grounds for a little while

We wandered over to the QS location Gasparilla's (sp?) and I got my FIRST mickey bar of the trip :jawdrop: It just hit me then that I hadn't had one yet. Thankfully we had plenty of time to rectify the situation :hungry:

We then wandered a little more and decided to just get back on the monorail to the Contemporary and hang out until our DME bus came.

Finishing up in next post :)

Day 5, Continued

We got back on the monorail at the Grand Floridian, and sat. And sat for a good 20 minutes... they made an announcement that one of the other vehicles lost electricity at the Contemporary and we couldn't move until they fixed the issue. I wasn't too worried at this point, we still had plenty of time before our DME bus would arrive. Finally after about another 10 minutes or so, we were moving! We made a stop at MK and we were just going to stay on, but then they made Another announcement that there was still an issue. So at that point we decided just to walk from MK back to the Contemporary. Sorry, no photos for awhile. I think I just wanted to take everything in before we left. We got to walk by MK one last time and see Space Mountain from the path.

Once back at the Contemporary, we grabbed our luggage and I got an iced coffee and we just relaxed in the lobby. I Love people watching, especially in Disney :). It was a little depressing to see people checking in, but I tried to not let it bring me down. We had an amazing trip! Throughout our weekend my mom kept telling me how great I did at planning out our days and meals and she kept thanking me for making it all happen :)

Finally we hopped on our Tragical Depressed bus and off to the airport we went. I think I took a nap on the way, since I don't remember anything... or I was just sad about leaving and zoned out. Maybe both ;). At the airport, Mom and I had to go our separate ways since I was flying Southwest, on the other side of the airport. There may have been some tears on both sides, but I'll be seeing Mom again when I visit her in September :).

I get over to SW check-in, drop off my bag and get my boarding pass. All of this time, I have to PEE :joyfull:. I figure I can go before I get into the security line... but there's a LINE out the door of the women's room :banghead:. So I decide I'll just go after going through security....

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

They actually post wait times here now, it said 25-30 minutes... and my flight was in about 45 minutes. And I still had to PEE... So 30 minutes later, I Finally get through to get on the Fonorail. Now I'm Starving and I still have to PEE.... so first I grabbed some food from an Asian place in the cafeteria area and THEN I FINALLY went to the bathroom. I must have been tired, because I do not know why I would get food first and then bring it in a public restroom with me :facepalm::facepalm::hungover:.

I find my gate, take a seat and eat my yummy, cheap Asian food :hungry:, sorry no more photos  A few minutes later, I board my place heading home to Nashville. My hubby came and picked me up from the airport and I came home to my Babies :inlove:

Love being greeted by my Babies after being away for a few days :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::)

So that's it for this trip. I must say, I finished this TR much faster than I thought I would. I will give my final thoughts in a few minutes, but I'd like some feedback on my report. How did I do on my first attempt? I'm open to all constructive criticism so I can do better next time. :D

Thank you for a wonderful, entertaining first trip report! You did great. I loved reading about your trip with your Mom.
I think I found my people, as I LOVE ice cream, and I always eat at least one a day while at WDW. It's my goal, which I always reach:)
I think your Mom and I are the only 2 people left in the US who use flip phones! LOL.
Thanks for making my day:)

Final Thoughts:

All-in-all it was another Great Disney trip! The weather was Hot, but we only got rained on once. I got to do the majority of my favorite rides (and got on the new Soarin' finally :D) and my mom got to go on everything she wanted too. Crowds were the best on Thursday (which I fully expected), there were a lot of school groups, but they didn't bother us too much. Keys to the Kingdom was Amazing! I fully encourage anyone interested to give it a try, my only suggestion would be to go back to the room and Nap after :joyfull: AND wear proper shoes ;). All of our meals were very good, I would definitely go back to all of the places we tried this time. Our servers were all pretty mediocre, but we met a few great cast members to make up for it. We also got to try Ample Hills which was great and a perfect treat on a hot day :hungry::hungry::hungry:.

My only negatives really were our room location (I'll never reserve the cheapest room at a Deluxe ever again), but we got used to that quickly and I really enjoyed having a larger room with a Keurig, that made things much more convenient for us. Also, jabbing myself in the nose with my margarita straw was not fun, but it makes for a funny story that we'll always remember... so that makes it worth it :).

This was a completely different trip than I was used to, mostly because I wanted my Mom to enjoy herself. My only issue was that she's a very picky eater, so I mostly booked breakfasts that I knew she would eat :hilarious:.

Mom loved this trip as well, she enjoyed not having to follow my sister and brother-in-law as they cut across the park 10 times a day.. she liked that I planned things in the same areas of the parks so we didn't have to rush anywhere.

Even though this was a short trip, I really wish I would have scheduled a rest day on Saturday or even skipped going to a park that morning and just relaxing at the hotel. We were so exhausted by Sunday from non-stop going that I don't think we enjoyed the last few days of our trip as much as we would've liked. We also didn't get to spend much time at the resort.

For my next trip, I'm bringing the hubby back :D, he finally agreed to go back after 2 years away. I'm thinking March or early December 2018... probably March because it's sooner ;). I think this trip I will get the dining plan and just book a few 2-credit meals (Cali Grill and Yachtsmen for sure) and then just eat on the go the rest of the trip. But I'm getting ahead of myself... I have to decide when first :)

Thanks for reading!!! I'll be back ;)
