4 Adults + Pop Century= Good Vacation?????

Hey everyone, this is my first post but I have been following the website since my last visit to the world in July. I am a Florida resident that lives in Panama City.

Anyways, I have been planning a family vacation for Christmas 2006. My girlfriend would be flying down from Chicago and then going down to the world with my parents and I. We would be going the week before Christmas to avoid the Christmas day crowds. I was wondering though if the Pop Century room would be too small for 4 adults? I would have no problem sleeping on the floor if necessary but I have no idea how much room there actually is. I appreciate any information. By the way, my girlfriend has never been to WDW so her and I would be at the parks most of the time and only coming back to sleep at the hotel. Thanks for all the information.

Welcome to the boards! I think Pop will be fine for you and your party. Like you said, you are looking for the room just to sleep as most of your time will be in the parks.

Have a Magical Time!

The rooms are pretty small and there is only one sink and bathroom. If you are close friends and don't mind being crammed together it will be fine. If any one in the party requires or desires a little more room you might want to get a second room.

Also bear in mind that the beds in the value and moderate resorts are "double" sized, which is 53 x 75 inches.

I sleep in a king at home (76 x 80), and a double is waaaay too small for comfort.

You will survive, but it will be an intimate experience.

If budget allows, I'd go for 2 rooms.

Agreed!!! I go with friends pretty frequently and in this case would definitely get a second room. Make sure you look into the Florida Resident Room rate as well!!! Belle

You'll definitely be crammed with 4 adults in a room at Pop. For a bit more room, try a Moderate resort. Yes, you pay more, but it'll be worth it. (or, perhaps.... two rooms? ;) ) One other tidbit of info - the resort is crazybusy during Xmas. :)

I would get 2 rooms. I would lose my mind being crammed together. There's not enough room for luggage for 4 people without having it all over the floorspace.

I've stayed at Pop's with my wife & two daughters. It was a little crowded but not uncomfortable. Both of my daughters have waist length hair so towels were the only real problem. We had to keep calling housekeeping to get the extras for the "wrapping around the wet hair" that women just "have to do". The four of you should be fine.

I would say go with 2 rooms. You would probably like a little privacy, plus your parents would probably appreciate getting to spend time by themselves together during the week.

Do you actually like this girlfriend? staying in one room with your parents, no matter how lovely they are is a bit too close!

You have to get 2 rooms if you want to keep the girl and make the parents happy, plus you can still show your parents that you are sleeping on the floor in the 2nd room because you are a gentleman right!

Anyway, enjoy the holidays in WDW, I'll be there the same time.:xmas:

Thanks again for all the information. I have already reworked the vacation. Another couple is going with us and we are getting a 2 bedroom suite at the contemporary. Parents can have 1 bedroom and the two younger couples will share the other one. Plenty of room in the 2 bedroom suites right??

I think I'm going to make a controversial remark (gasp!)

I truly feel there is no middle. The moderate resorts do not have that much more space/comfort, with regards to the rooms, than the values do. A couple of square feet here and there, and they are pretty much the same. Moderates have more amenities, but room space? The beds are pretty much the same (doubles). Its value, or its deluxe for me, unless I want to pay less, and have more dining/drinking/resort entertainment. Purely my opinion.

For probably roughly the same amount of $ that you pay for a suite at the Contemporary, you could get three rooms at a value resort. Something worth considering. That way everybody has their own space.

I've stayed 4 to a room at All Star Sports before and it was tight, but it was a guys trip so we didn't really care. We were pretty much at the parks or out somewhere all the time anyway.

You are correct about the couple of square feet of space, but what a difference that makes!!! I went in October and spent the first night at the All Star Sports then moved up to the Coronado. WOW what a change. In the Sports I felt like I was tripping over each other. In the Moderates it wasnt even close to that. I truly believe there is enough of a difference inside the rooms and out to have a discussion on it!! Belle

I gotta agree with belle on this. Yes it is a small increase in square footage but it makes a big difference. Also the moderate resorts are simply nicer with better dining options and more amenities. IMHO POR is the most bang for the buck resort on property.

I absolutely agree on the resort, theming, amenities, etc. But the real difference is in the beds. Double beds mean sleepless nights for people used to sleeping in kings and queens. It doesn't get better until you move to the deluxes. For a weeklong vacation, where any rest is appreciated, double beds don't cut it. So yes, the space makes a difference, but for me, its all in the beds.
