New Disney Hotel to Open in Tokyo Disney Resort

URAYASU, CHIBA - Oriental Land Co, Ltd. has announced the signing of an agreement with The Walt Disney Company to open a third Disney hotel within Tokyo Disney Resort in 2008 (tentative). The nine-story high hotel will have about 700 guestrooms and will be larger than either of the other two Disney hotels, the Disney Ambassador Hotel and Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. A third Disney hotel is necessary to continue to provide a resort environment where Guest can stay longer to enjoy all that Tokyo Disney Resort has to offer, including two theme parks, dining, shopping and entertainment. Also, since the other two Disney hotels have annual occupancy rates of over 90%, there is growing demand for more room space.

The new hotel will be built in front of Tokyo Disneyland Park in the current Guest parking area with the Disney Resort Line ’s Tokyo Disneyland Station situated between the hotel and the Park.

The exterior of the new hotel will reflect the early 20th-century Victorian architectural style of the Park’s World Bazaar themed land and Tokyo Disneyland Station.

While grand and elegant, the hotel will generate a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that will give Guests a taste of the enchanting experiences that await them in Tokyo Disney Resort. The typical Guestroom will be spacious enough for a family to stay in comfort.

Note: A 1,800-car parking structure will also be built in near the hotel to accommodate Guests visiting Tokyo Disneyland Park.

Facility Details (Proposed)

Name: Undecided
Location: Maihama, Urayasu-shi, Chiba Prefecture (within the Tokyo Disneyland (Guest parking area)

Operator: Maihama Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Land Co., Ltd.)

Thanks To JoeinJapan for the info.

Nice information, cheers!

Funnt how they don`t mention the other 6 non Disney resorts at TDLR - especially since they have their own monorail station... or the 18 partner hotels nearby!

Thanks!
I have been looking for a good Satellite shot of the resort for awhile.
From what I've been told unless they pull a DCA and start building on the parking lots (like what they are doing with the new hotel) there is not a lot of room left for anything major (like a 3rd park).
Again it's just what I've been told.

After looking at the picture a few times today, I still think DLP has the nicest of the "Grand Floridian" style hotles.

I should point out the full size original aerial pic is at www.Airliners.net - the hyperkink is WAY to big, so click on take me to the `photo search page` and just enter Disney in the keyword field. You`ll also see some GREAT planes in their Disney paintjobs!

Marni, as usual you are a wealth of information.
Cheers!
Having seen those I guess that there could be more land reclaim that could be done in Tokyo Bay. Provided they can get permission for that. Or if they don't put in a Disney Cruiseline Terminal.
At any rate after looking at a guide map, it appears that it won't quite be in the park like at DLP or The Miracosta. It will be on the other side if the Monorail Station. Should blend in nicely with the Monorail Station and The Main Gate/ World Bazzar.

Looks great! It will be sort of like the Disneyland hotel in DLP is suppose. Its a good thing they're getting rid of that parking. All of the japanese ride the speed train to the resort instead of taking their cars. The parking lot was just a waste of space.

Looking at the concept sketch in the pdf file, the exterior reminds me more of The Hotel Hershey than Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or The Disneyland Hotel at The Disneyland Resort Paris. Just a thought.

Aboslutley - my first thought. The middle section could be Paris if it had a pink roof...

Oh, definetly. Although the Pink Roof would look like Paris thing is sorta right. I think Paris has like a light pink wall, darker red roofs. I think the roofs on this are green (duh) and the walls yellow. But the style of archetecture is similar to the Disneyland Hotel.

on airliners.net, half way down (without scrolling) is a white button - take me to the photo search page. Click this, on the new page type disney in the keyword box (don`t touch the others) - the pic should be on page 4 of 7. Make sure you select large!
