Hi all,

I was wondering if someone can throw some light on the story about a brides ring outside the Haunted Mansion.

I have read a in a few places that it was left over from a pole that was removed. It looks like the brides ring that is part of the story that goes with the HM.

Anyway when we were on our last trip there we looked everywhere without any joy. We were hunting around staring at the floor as if we had lost a contact lense looking rather silly. :brick::shrug::brick:

So PLEASE can anyone confirm if it is still there embedded in the concert somewhere or has it been removed???????

Many thanks

Fiction - but it became so popular, people will swear it was fact. If you had seen it, it looked nothing like a ring, but instead like a, well, cut off pipe.

It's now gone.

I remember finding it several years ago after hearing the story about it. It definately appeared to be a leftover from a post. Last trip I tried to show my wife where it was, but it was gone. I'm guessing that the area was fixed up after the refurb.

Yep it was a cut off post, and the wholoe area was cleaned up with the last major refurb.
It was fun for those who liked to tag that story on, but it was never an official story line.

It's gone, and so is the mystery of the ring/pipe.:(

I think Disney should actually embed a real ring into the concrete so the story will live on. It was always fun telling the story and looking for the ring/pipe.

The story I heard was that she threw it out of the window that overlooks it. Wasn't it in front of the coach? It was always fun to look at....too bad it's gone.

The Haunted Mansion didn't follow any one story particuarly. The imagineers had conflicting ideas of what the attraction should be. The outcome we see today is a compilation of both their work. While the Bride is in the attic scene and at the very end, she's not anywhere else.

The fans actually made the story of what has become of the HM today. Disney loved the idea so much that they made a movie based on the story, openned another HM across the globe utilizing the story and changed the DL and WDW attic scene to relate to the story as well. The ring was part of that story (made by fans) and the cut-off pole was simply found by someone and it worked itself into it as well. The pole was only a little bigger than a pencil so her "ring" was very small.

the ring was never meant to be a "ring" it was from an old gate that was removed.....
the ring is no longer there because of the new referbishment... the imagineers or whoever covered it up.. im guessing cuz it backed up the line of the guests exiting the ride. when people were looking for it.

EDIT:

Anyone remember when it was first removed and there was like a 9 page thread debating whether it was a piece of pole or a ring?
That was great. I gotta find that thread.

It looks pretty cool to be fair though. Petition for them to stick a real ring there? :drevil:

I second the idea of Disney embedding a real ring in the pavement somewhere. It would have to be carefully done to prevent theft, though.

I think the idea to put a real ring there would be an awesome idea. It would keep the ring storyline going and add even more mystery as it once did to the HM.

I remember they put epoxy crete over it to hide it. Then someone chipped it away. I have pics somewhere.

Now that whole little section was taken up and repoured with new cobblestone bricks.

They removed it for a time but later they did end up installing an official engagement ring in the concrete that you can’t find in the queue if you have the time to look. It’s in the courtyard portion not far from the queue chains
