Hello everybody, I just finished my last trip report that you can read here http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...nfection-my-november-2014-trip-report.895495/
This trip the cast changes a bit. Still me (Davita) and my DH, Disney supernerds! This trip will be our fourth trip to WDW. This is us at our last Dapper Day at Disneyland last September.
But now we are adding three people! My mom and brothers have gone to Disneyland with us twice before and have decided to join us on this trip.
This is a blurry photo of all of us meeting Goofy in Disneyland
DH is on the left, Matthew is with the Chip and Dale ear hat and Nathan is next to Goofy, my mom is on the far right. Nathan and Matthew are twins, 22 years old and are both autistic. Matthew is much less severe on the spectrum. His biggest obstacles are communicating with other people. Nathan is much more severe on the spectrum and has difficulty in a lot of areas. He's graduating high school in June and he LOVES Goofy. He was Goofy for Halloween last year.
Our dates are June 20th-30th and my 30th(!!!!) birthday is in the middle of the trip. So far we are staying at Port Orleans Riverside, I'll talk in a bit about the "so far." Matthew is a huge Harry Potter fan so we are doing one day at Universal again this trip. It will end up being three days Magic Kingdom, three days at Epcot, one day at DHS and one at Animal Kingdom.
We will be on the dining plan again and are eating at a lot of character meals. Our ADRs are Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Boma, Tusker House, 'Ohana, Crystal Palace, Hoop de doo Revue, Sci Fi Drive in, Akershus, and Via Napoli. The dining reservations this trip were extremely difficult because I had to take in account two very picky eaters, hence the abundance of buffets and family style meals.
So now the big problem. My mom wanted to have a room for and my brothers. And she doesn't want us to have to share with one of them. Nice, yes BUT she picked POR because of the Murphy bed. And she intends to sleep there herself and my brothers each get a queen bed. Now, I've looked online and saw how small that bed was and don't see that being comfortable for a ten day trip. We've been trying to tell her this and she is insistent.
So now we've been working on her and we made some progress. She watched the Disney Parks planning video and fell in love with Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now heres the catch there. She wants the room with the bunk beds and is ok with sleeping on the top bunk. The other problem is that I'm worried about primarily using the buses with my brother Nathan. He has problems with his motor skills and I'm not sure he could hang on to the bars if he had to. My idea is we upgrade instead to the Polynesian. Mostly because I don't think he'd have as much problems if he had to stand on the monorail since it isn't usually as rough, and there's always the boat option from Magic Kingdom. I think the couch bed in the Poly looks much more comfortable for my mom. Also, this is their first visit and they are used to Disneyland where everything is a walk away. So the size of WDW and how long transportation time can be from AKL is something I'm trying to warn my mom about.
So we'll see how this goes, I'm anxiously awaiting a summer discount option so we can hopefully get the Polynesian. But Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful and I'd be so happy staying there as well. As long as my mom doesn't have to sleep in the Murphy bed!
