I just released 3 new vids. (Cue Dolby music here - go get em!)

They will appear on #D-C as soon as a server sees this message and grabs them from distro. They will be appearing on Visions Fantastic over the next couple day. And they will be posted to alt.binaries.multimedia.disney and .parks soon.

So - what is being released:

1. Matterhorn - this video contains both sides of the ride set to music. WDW folks will recognize the music for the second track.

2. Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin - a fun video that pay attention to Disney queue theming at it's best. Plus you get a great seat for a ride thru Toontown.

3. Fantasyland Tour - this is a 9 minutes musical/video/picture romp through Disneyland's Fantasyland.

I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think.

Those are all great....

It would be interesting to see the Matterhorn with both sides on a split screen with the times sequed (?SP) together....

sequed? Did you mean sync as in synchronized?

If you are interested in times for each side I can get you that data easily enough from my footage. I can time it from the moment you begin your climb till the breaks just past the final water.

If that is what you want let me know and I can get the data from the time stamps on my footage.

btw .. two little questions ..

what is this whale in fantasy land .. was/is it an attraction .. the only thing I saw in 2000 was the blinking eyes :lookaroun

this thing behind the curtains at the end of your fantasyland video .. was it an animatronic or a CM ?

The Whale (Monstro) marks the entrance into Storybook Canel Boats. After you leave the dock you 'get swallowed' by the whale. "Pinocchio made him sneeze so hard it blew off his tail." You come out the other side and you are in Storybook Land.

That is an AA behind the curtains. This window sits upon Snow White's Scary Adventure. The figure in the window is the wicked Queen. I can't remember the exact timing but I think it is something like every 20 seconds she pulls the curtains apart and looks down on Fantasyland.

It is not new at all. I guess it could have been down for rehab in 2000. I fyou filmed it for a bit and never saw a boat then my guess it was begin refurb'd or something.

The answer to the MH question:

Tomorrowland Side: 2:11 1/2 seconds from brake release to first stop
Fantasyland Side: 2:13 1/2 seconds from brake release to approx first stop.

OK, why approx. My tape on the Tomorrowland side my car was stopped before the final turn into the station. On the Fastanyland side I was stopped at the turn into the Station (actual time 2:21.) In the Fantasyland video I can see the bobsled rolling over the brakes that stopped me on the TL side; that was at approx 2:13 seconds.

So, yes, the Fantasyland side is longer, by a whole 2 seconds. There are some uncontrollable variables like bobsled weight or track conditions. Both of my videos were recorded on the same day but about 45 minutes apart. I have no idea of the weight of each sled. I would say the margin of error couldn't be more then a couple more seconds.

Now, as to which side is faster - I don't think either of them really faster. I guess if you had exact track length and compare it to my times you could come up with an average speed. You would need the exact length from the final brake release just outside the cave to the hold position before the final turn into the station.

Nice, RU. I`ve been hoping for some `Tour of DLC` type videos for us non CA peeps. I`ve been out of circulation this week (work) and will be over the next few weeks - apart from the odd day - so i`ll be grabbing these ASAP.

Thanks for the Distro note too.

Yes, that is what I meant... I had I major brain fart this morning and couldn't do much of anything right.

One one of the Old 'World Greatest Coaster' PPV programs that was on a few years back they did a couple of Dualing/Twin/Racing coasters on a split screen where you could see the other train in the distance and watch them approach and pass each other. I thought something like that would be neat for the Matterhorn. I haven't messed with much editing software yet so I am not sure of the trouble involved in doing a split screen.

Don't feel bad, I have the same problem all the time trying to run my site. I start on something then someone mentions and idea and I am off trying to figure out something new.

Thanks for the video, I will check it out after a bit.

Of course I did say that in jest. Yes, I am busy but your idea really got me thinking. It was a fun project. Let me know what you think of the video.

I figured you were... you are like me, someone gives you and idea and you work it out ASAP. If you are like me going to bed doesn't help as I spend my time in bed thinking about it instead of sleeping... ;)
