Possibly, but very doubtfull. You have to think how much more popular Pirates is thanks to WDW. No matter if it is not as good or long. Many millions more have ridden it compared to DL.
*NOW* I know where I've seen you, haha... go on MySpace much? Aren't we having this same debate over there, haha
Anyway, I can't tell if the intent of your comment is w/o Disney parks in general there'd be no Pirates movie, or WDW specifically. I can't imagine you'd be saying the latter since a) Disneyland's Pirates has been around for 50 years and carried far more guests than MK's by this point, b) WDW wouldn't exist without DL, c) Pirates at WDW wouldn't exist without DL, d) the DL version is considered the classic version, e) the premieres for the films have been held at DL, etc etc etc.

Is the Tokyo Pirates going to remain as-is? I haven't heard any mention of changes. Won't it be strange if the only 'pure' Pirates remains in Tokyo? I think that would be cool... it'd be nice to have the reference version extant somewhere in the world. Then again, they could be changing it for all I know.
You know, this is a really good question. Tokyo goes through a different process than the Disney-owned parks. When we have a concept we think is good, we pitch it to OLC who decides yeah or neigh on the concept. Case in point: Tomorrowland. OLC desperately wants a new Tomorrowland but passed when the MK concept was pitched to them and is waiting for a truly good concept to emerge from WDI. That was a while ago and it appears they've settled for piecemeal attractions just like the rest of us. So I don't know if the Pirates idea has been pitched to them and they've passed, or if they're waiting to see how ours plays out, or we just haven't pitched it. But yeah, it would be kinda nice if they kept our version, especially since their version really is our honest-to-goodness original version (before all of our changes in '97). Kinda like I like it that we still have the original reference Tiki. Tokyo's is horrible and MK's is only mildly entertaining if you know the original.

I've been saying this forever. I still think that Hong Kong should get it. There's no reason not to, and it would give HKDL the signature attraction it desperately needs.
HK's signature attraction will be nextgen Pirates. I've no doubt that's been all over this board, but I am waiting to visit HK until Pirates opens. It'll be the 1st one completely themed to the film and feature a flume drop ala Splash.
