3:30 dining at 'Ohana worthwhile?

Hi, I've been trying and trying to get a rez for dinner at 'Ohana. Finally got one for my family, but it's at 3:30--right when it opens. Wondering if anyone has been in the same boat and can tell me if it's worthwhile. We are staying at the Poly and plan to take a mid-afternoon break from the parks anyway...but, who works up an appetite at 3:30? And will there be any entertainment/games for kids that early in the day? Lastly, I made a rez for 3 but there are 4 in my party (couldn't get a rez for 4). Think this will be a problem?

Many thanks.

Welcome to the forums, @samf.

Yes, 3:30 pm is awfully early for dinner. I recommend checking frequently for a later ADR, up to the day before you plan to dine (there's a good chance of cancellations when people get within 24 hours and don't want to pay the no-show fee.) Also, search for 4, not 3, because there are tables that only seat 3 and if you show up with 4 there could be a problem. (We are a party of 3, so I know of what I speak ;).)

But if you are unsuccessful booking a later ADR, your party of 4 *should* be accommodated (though you may have to wait longer) since there is usually some leeway when a restaurant first opens. Make sure you eat an early (or light) breakfast so you will have hearty appetites...'Ohana is a lot of yummy food!!

As for entertainment, 'Ohana has a singer (usually female, sometimes male) who engages guests during dinner and I imagine will begin performing earlier now with the change in hours.

3:30 can be an ok time to eat a big dinner. I agree that later in the day I will be hungry again, but not for a full meal. Maybe two scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone...

my family did this 2 trips ago. we love O'Hana and could only get 3:30 reservations and took them. what we did was call that lunch. we always eat an early breakfast. that day we had a small snack around 11, and ate at 3:30 for "lunch" in our brains. that night we had dinner late too but it was smaller than normal.

As far as the reservation for 3 instead of 4, I'm not so sure about that. That might be a slight problem.:( 'Ohana is a wonderful family style all you can eat restaurant, so you'll be fine. Whatever time you can snag!;) You can grab a snack later that evening.;)
