We have been going to Disney since 1985. What I like to tell people is one of the things I love is that every morning you wake up to Beautiful sunshine..EVERY morning..thats how your day starts. You then usually get your thunderstorm, downpour btween 3-5pm then Sunshine again...but we have not experienced the dreary rainy ( New England) day here before. We were there Aug 6th-14 and the first 3 days we were there we pretty muched lived in our panchos...just constant drizzle,rain..it was depressing. Id say aside from the last 2-3 days the rest of our days were wet,dreary..blah days..now it did not stop us from doing things ( except, pools or water parks, etc) but when you save and plan so long you want nice sunny..hot weather.when you go down....anyone else there the same time? Did the weather put cramp in your days?

We were not there but all I can say is that if you've been going for 27 years and this was your first rain out I'd say you've been lucky. :)

We've had morning rain on about 10% of our trips. I recall being the only one at the bus stop waiting for the first bus of the day and it was POURING very heavy.

We've had weather were we were so cold we had to buy warmer clothes.

Neither ruined the mood of our trips.

We were at Disney!

We have been 12 time over the last 15 years and our very first trip in 1996 was a wet trip and the last one 8/19 - 8/25 was a wet trip. Over all I would say we have had great luck when it comes to the weather. Rain does not stop us for touring the parks...we protect the cell phone and the camera (I pull out the waterproof camera in the rain) and keep going. Now we did change a few ARD's for dinner because of heave downpours but that did not bother us in any way shape or form. All in all we had a great time.

When we started going in the early 90's we'd have a short shower in the afternoon or early evening, usually about the time we would get out of the Christmas Processional. Now we notice that it's not as rainy as it was, but it is much cooler usually about 20 or so degrees when we go. I've learned to pack the rain ponchos as well as sweatshirst and jeans. We don't let it stop us, but we are aware of it. The only thing it puts a crimp on is going swimming. Too cold to swim in the 60's.

I would change perspective and call it a blast. Forget ponchos. Go out and get soaked, jump in puddles, and enjoy. I have done this on several occasions. People hunker down in ponchos, dwell in their rooms, hide like the plague. I find it to be a blast to just "soak" it in.

I suppose it's easier for me to say since I come from a warmer climate, but I enjoy when it rains at Disney - puts a different perspective on the day and really helps to drive away crowds. I don't mind being wet either which helps, plus I'm seriously warm blooded so when it's raining that generally means it's cooler .. but not once the sun comes back out!! Yuck!

We had a rain out one year when I was little. It rained the entire week pretty much all day long. It's funny though, I remember the trip but I never remember it raining, but the photos say otherwise. So one time when I brought my kids and it POURED one day, I remember my son saying "but mommy I'll get my sneakers wet if we walk out in that". So I took his hand and brought him out in the rain and said to him "go jump in that puddle, you can't get any wetter than wet". He looked at me like I had lost it, but he jumped and jumped and jumped. He still talks about the time I let him jump in puddles 3 years later. Don't get me wrong I hope every trip we take is rain free but it's what you make of it, I guess.

Isnt that the truth. Ive had many 'O' Florida trips filled with overcast skies and rain all day.:lol: Heck, Id take a day at Disney filled with rain over being at home with the sun out. :D

We were down there almost exactly the same time. We were there from August 9th until 20th spliting our time between Universal and other parks(5 days) and Disney (6 days). There were really only 3 days for us that had rain that was torrential downpours. The worst being Tuesday the 9th when we arrived, but that cleared out by 3pm with a passing shower a few hours later, and then Thursday the 18th about 645pm we got drenched with from what they were saying on the news 4 inches rain. We stayed in the parks, it cleared them out nicely, it was fun seeing a river come down the line for Tower of Terror. It really was hit or miss on the rain and how much you got. The way we looked at it was the rain was warm, I can't remember the last time we had warm rain in Michigan. We were prepared for rain, heck we were prepared for Emily to hit. We only got out the rain when there was lighting happening. The only thing that we missed because of the rain was a performace of Fantasmic. Oh well maybe next time we visit is we will see it is how we looked at it.

We went for Christmas in 2000 and most mornings it was colder down there than home ( W.Mass!!) and it snowed a little a few days.. we brought vests and hats and gloves and had so many offers for people to buy them..lol., especially at Illuminations. Never would I have thought I'd be freezing in Florida but I was that year.. just goes to show you just never know and you just have to deal. It rained every day of the 12 we were there last week..oh well..!

I don't.

I love Disney in the rain, I think it's a total different experience, and I actually enjoy it very much.

Me too!! I live in California and we don't get that kind of tropical weather here. So it's a cool treat for me to get to experience the Florida downpour. In fact, we were just there in July for a week and it didn't rain once the entire trip. Not one single drop. We were actually a little disappointed.

This is the main reason we get the seasonals and not the annuals. We didn't want to visit the world from June to August. Too hot, too crowded and way to rainy.

I've had hit or miss showers, colder than I expected or warmer than I expected but mostly, perfect weather. I've been lucky, I guess. Sorry you had experiences you weren't used to...hope you made the most of it. :)
