I was at MK for the 25th anniversary when the castle was decorated like a cake, but cant seem to find my pictures. Does anyone have any that they can send?

Why did everybody hate it so much? I LOVED it! It was so colorful and fun!

Because it was a disgrace to the castle, just like that gold crap they had on it for HCOE. It was the first step in WDW plundge into the black hole of tackyness.

But if you want pics. do a Yahoo or Google search for "Disney Cake Castle"

Well I happen to think the castle cake looked nice.

To the OP: There are a few threads here discussing this already and I posted my pic there...sorry I can't find the original right now.

.".....when the castle was decorated like a cake...."

I brought my son for the first time in 1996, he was almost 5 at the time, he kept asking me "When are going to see the castle?"
He just couldn't understand that they made the castle into a cake.

The wedding pavilian has a window that looks out and sees the castle. During the cake years, they had to cover up that window for wedding pics becasue the brides and grooms didnt want that ugly thing in their pics.

At least the cake decorations came down after the 25th birthday celebration. Unlike a certain millenium wand that is still up after 7 years or a tacky inflatable hat used to honor a dead guy's 100th birthday.:hurl:

There are no better words to explain it like you just said. Seeing pics of me there younger makes me hide under my bed cringed in fear. That and the old Winnie the Pooh costumes. How did he always keep that honey pot balanced?

Just looking at that brings back bad memories of my eyes burning from my skull from looking at that monstrosity. That is one of WED's (or should I say the Imagineers') worst ideas ever. Don't ever encourage an Imagineer to consider doing that again (or changing SSE into a cupcake). :lookaroun

I liked the castle cake decorations. I know it was just there for a short time and I really enjoyed them while they were there. I actually thought it was kinda clever. I would take the Castle Cake over the Epcot Wand any day.

One the hat is not inflatable hat is made out of steal. And second that dead guy is the one that put together the world and came up with it. If it wasn't for that "Dead Guy" we would not be talking about WDW. There would be nothing there.
