Was thinking; since they have done the 2 24 hours events, does anyone think or maybe know if they will do one again for the 60th anniversary celebration? The weekend they have done it was basically the same for the both years. That so happens to be the time we would be there for our 2015 trip! It would be awesome if they did it! Does anyone here know anything?

About three months ago there was a MiceAge Update that said Disneyland's marketing team was seriously considering kicking off the 60th Diamond Celebration with a 60 Hour Party. If it happens it would be in May, according to recent reports.

That would be insane. We r planning on going the full week, 17-23rd. The party, if it's the same as the last 2 parties, woul fall on the 22-23rd of May...

I know the 1st 24-hour day was really popular and I think this year's was as well. I'm thinking these could become fairly regular events.

60 Hour Party!?! That sounds crazy. Who needs sleep anyways?

Didn't they do some crazy park hours when star tours opened or something? I'll look it up...

edit: it was opened for a 60 hour marathon in January of whatever year Star Tours first opened! :D

I think it sounds extremely fun, but I know I couldn't last 60 hours straight:hungover:

Yep. 1987 was the year.
I enjoy hearing the fan stories about standing in line during that time waiting to experience it.
Quite a day from all accounts i have come across. It really excited and electrified people.

60 hours sounds abosolutely insane - and whole lot of fun too, if you lasted. Talk about creating some Disney memories to tell people about!

They also had a 60 hour party for the opening of Captain EO a few months before Star Tours opened. I went to the Star Tours party from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. I was only 16, so I had a lot more energy then. They had lasers bouncing off of the rooftops of the Tomorrowland buildings, and the StarTours logo was projected on the side of the Matterhorn. It was busy, but not that busy.

Although I did not make it to the party for the Captain EO opening, I heard from several reliable sources that late Friday night / early Saturday morning, the line for Captain EO went from the theater all the way through Tomorrowland, then down Main Street towards the entrance, then around town square, and then it started back up the other side of the street towards Adventureland. They said the wait was about 4 hours. It seems crazy now, but MJ was at the height of his popularity, so I guess it was worth it back then.

The best 24 hour party was the one they held for their 30th birthday in 1985. The party started at midnight and required a special ticket. Most of the people came there for the concerts, so there was practically no wait for any of the rides. The park emptied out around 4 or 5 and stayed empty until the gates opened at 8 or 9. I saw my first Disneyland sunrise on that day. It was pretty magical.

Anyone remember how they handled tickets for the 60 hour event? Wonder if Disney would market it as a special ticketed event like the Halloween and Christmas parties.
