DL and DCA will be open from 6 am May 23 to 6 am May 24.

This time Disney is inviting guests to show their “Disney Side” and dress up as as a Disney hero or villain while Disney brings own their own characters with character meet-and-greets throughout the day along with other entertainment and merchandise.

Disney’s costume details:
• Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by Disney.
• Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent; drag on the ground; contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest; contain any weapons or objects which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
• Masks may be worn, but they must not obstruct vision, and eyes must be visible at all times.
• Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs.
• Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission.

By pure chance I will be at Disneyland for the 24 hour day. Was trying to look up the entertainment schedule for previous years but couldn't find anything easily online, can anyone guess what late night fireworks/parades they will be doing?

Besides New Years Eve, there is an agreement with the city of Anaheim to not shoot off Fireworks after 10PM to be considerate of its neighbors. At past 24 hour events the extra stuff included dance parties, special merchandise and food. They also had some type of slumber party in Toontown playing classic animated movies into the early hours. The Disney parks blog usually releases information as the event gets closer.

For people who attended last year, was DCA always part of it? I wonder if that would help with the crowds. I am considering tacking on an extra day for the parks, and coming back later in our trip for this(we will do Anaheim early part of trip, go up coast then come back to LA area to fly out) but if it's so crowded it makes no sense for us to do. I mean is it crowded all hours?

Yes, DCA was part of the last 24 hour party in May, 2013. It wasn't involved in the first one in February 2012 due to construction. And yes, it's typically crowded at all hours in both parks; the scene in DCA after Midnight gets particularly party-like.
