24 Hour Event In 2016? Still a Possibility?

These events must make them enough money to justify the complete the disaster I feel they always are. Last year's especially was the worst. I was there and I couldn't get into Disneyland because they closed the park. There wasn't even anybody there by the evening and they still remained closed! Meanwhile, as I left, massive line of people backed out from the esplanade all the way back to the parking structure.

I agree. I think their big mistake was offering the party directly at the same time all the new stuff debuted. The rest of the park was empty because 99% of the people were waiting for hours on mainstreet for the parade/fireworks. They couldn't continue letting people in because main st was a mad house. And that's where everyone wanted to be. So after the last parade was over, then they could allow people back in again.

Main Street bypasses were built for this express purpose. Disneyland didn't reopen until near 2am, long after the first parade and fireworks.

It was a phenomenally stupid idea to debut the 60th shows on a 24 hour day, but another 24 hour day this year would still be ludicrously popular. There are too many APs and DL is too popular.

If they're going to do one, all APs need to be blocked out except Signature+, which guarantees no blackouts. It also shouldn't be on Memorial Day weekend.

These kind of things happen when you let people call the shots who know nothing about theme parks and don't care about them or how they work.

I think the problem was though, that no one wanted to bypass Main St, they all wanted a spot for the Parade/fireworks. And the last parade was over, I believe, at 1 something AM, after which they let people in the parks again.

.

But, I totally agree with this. Although, if you block out APs, there might not be much other interest in an event like this.

That's easily solved with guest control CMs forcing new guests into the bypasses. They didn't WANT to let people in because of executive ego.

Colglazier panicked and shut the gates prematurely. He then steadfastly held onto his mistake. It was miserable, and outside of bag check, downright dangerous for everyone who wasn't in blissfully empty Disneyland.

Seasoned theme park ops people were shoved aside so that the big dogs could run this event and show off. They failed their guests and they failed their casts, many of whom were being spit on and cursed at for hours on end after extending from already full shifts.

Disneyland has proven several times now that they are incapable of hosting a 24 hour event. It's a concept that needs to remain where it works, at WDW.

That's actually not true, amazingly. Regular SoCal'ers love the idea of overnights in DL and turned out in droves for the last event.

Another problem is that no one wants to overnight in DCA, they all want to overnight in DL. DCA's doing great though, we promise!

Who stays in line to get into a theme park for hours on end and gets so angry they spit and curse at the employees?????

They have all the special events in DL it seems. Didn't hear about many special things going on in DCA.

Why do people purposely visit on days like this when you know for certain it will be packed to the rafters with people? And I bet 99.9% of the people visiting have been to the park more than twice. What is so much fun about being there when it's so crowded? Help me understand.

When the parks are packed it is not a fun place to be. The only fun I could see would be to sit on a park bench and people watch for hours.

I'm telling you, that night was brutal. There's no excusing that kind of guest behavior, but DL wasn't helping things. There was no information, no communication and no security. It was utter pandemonium.
