The one ride I regret not riding at WDW:MK back in the mid 80s on my first two visits (84 and 86) was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Line always seemed to be long.

Whatever happend to that ride, and how long ago did it go extinct. I understand the pond is still there and the queue building is still in use for something else.

Inquiring minds...

I rode 20,000 leagues in 1990

I think it closed around 1992 or 93

I'm glad I got to ride it but the truth is, it wasn't that great of a ride in my oppinion.:(

The line were always really long because it was such a slow-loading ride.

Once in the subs I felt very confined and claustrophobic.

It always smelled like MOLD

The under water animatronics were pretty cheesy by todays standards.

Some would dissagree with all this but after I rode it once, I would have never ridden it again. You didn't miss much.

it closed later than 92 or 93...my first trip was in 92, and i rode it probably about 3 times (not just in that year)..so my guess would be about 94 or 95. so, you were close, but if memory serves me right, it was a TAD bit later than 92 or 93.
i didn't mind the ride as a small kid...the squid scared me a little though. but if it were still around today, the animatronics and such would be so low standard....and you're right! the insides of the subs did smell funny!!
but i remember right before it closed, the line was never ever more than 5 to 10 min. MAYBE 15. it might've picked up in the middle of the day though, i'm not sure.

all the info that you want can be found on the numerous threads here... do a search, and you'll even find links to pics of where the subs are now.
