What the real story with the thing I read some where if disney takes out the water the sides of the lagoon will fall in and shut down half the park. that is why it just sits there confused

As I have stated before, the water in 20K comes from Bay Lake. There is a big system connecting Bay Lake, the moat around Cinderella Castle, 20K, that river in Frontierland, the Jungle Cruise, and then back to the Seven Seas Lagoon. If they took 20K out, they would have to find a way to funnel the water past that point anyway or the flow of water through all of these points would stop.

the water from 20k is chlorinated..so its not the same water from bay lake...they have drained it before and had no problems..just right now it is far more "attractive" filled with water....

All of the water from Splash Mountain,TommorowlandLake, Cindereaals castle,Jungle Cruise,BTMR,PoTC,20K Lagoon, and the river around Tom Sawyers Island are all cleaned with clorine and if the water was from BayLake, then it would change the color of the water ways and it would create algae and dirty water everywhere...

just telling you what the Cast Member who ran my Keys to the Kingdom tour said...just made sense to me, seeing as the water still flowed through those attractions during the big drought, whereas most of the fountains in the parks were turned off...water evaporates, so it is coming from somewhere, and I didn't think the surrounding governments would enjoy disney fueling water into its rides when no one else could even turn their sprinklers on...incidentally, you could clean water and put it back into a real waterway better than it was before...zoos certainly use clean water and it's chlorine-free (they use ozone...put it in the water, then take it back out and fuel the water into exhibits)

the bottom of the lagoon is situated at the same level as the utilidors, so it would cost a lot to build ontop of it, because they would have to be careful not to damage or mess with the utilidors. :)

The Jungle Cruise water is not from Bay Lake. But the Rivers of America is.

Also is the 20,000 leagues stuff still under water? Or has it all been removed

A show building?

There was a show building for this ride? What part of it was enclosed, I don't remeber, seeing as the last time I rode it was at age 5. And I'm 17 now...

I think this was the show building.

actually it is the show building and the green strip to the left is the maintenance bay .... the building is basicly condemned .... the bay is still used for painting show peices but other than that no one is allowed in the building exept for anual inspections .... i pass by there everyday to get to toontown from costuming

I'm with DisneyInsider. The water in the Rivers of America comes from Bay Lake via the waterway that you go over on the monorail between GF & MK (Same place they store the Water Pagent floats) then under the bridge you go over on the WDW RR. It is possible that they MAY recirculate the water between Castle Lagoon/JC/20K but I don't know that for a fact.

I know that the Jungle Cruise isn't the Bay Lake water because if you fall in the require you to get a tetanus shot because all the pesticides and such sit in the water all the time since there is no circulation to a larger body of water. But the Rivers of America is filtered in to Bay Lake but if you fall in good luck swiming. That current is STRONG!

From what I understand, the only thing holding back a replacement is $$$.

It would be very expensive to remove the lagoon and show building.

Going on 8 years now with no replacement in site. I sure wish they would do SOMETHING with this area.

Great pictures, thanks for the link.

My recollection of the show building is a brief period of darkness with some glow-in-the-dark scenary and then emerging very quickly from under the waterfalls (correct??)

The boats were stuffy and very uncomfortable. You sat on either side with your back to the center of the boat looking out the portals.

My understanding as well is only $$ and the right idea is holding up rehab of the area. There maybe some engineering challenges but nothing that could not be dealt with. This is a big chunk of valuable MK property, worthy of significant investment in a top E ticket ride. No coaster please, but a splash mountain level family attraction would do nicely here. I know the fire mountain rumors, but an area between F-land and Toontown seeems to beg for more family fare.
