Alex Bowman could be eliminated in the first or 2nd round. I don't see going far. The problem is he only has 8 top 10's and has been streaky all season.

Ryan Blaney has a chance to be out of the first round. He never has finished in the top 10 at Richmond and that track is in the first round. He never finished in the top 10 at Darlington either. He could do good at Martinsville since he has a top 10 finish there in his last 3 starts there including a 2nd place finish earlier this year.

Martin Truex Jr. to me is 2nd to final 4 range to me although he would be a big underdog to win the championship. Truex only has 1 win, but is the 2nd fastest driver out of Joe Gibbs Racing this year.

Chase Elliott should be a 3rd round driver. The crew chief is known to make bad calls from the pits at times and has cost Chase wins. I think Chase Elliott is currently the best road course driver of the drivers in the playoffs and Charlotte is in the 2nd round.

Joey Logano is going to be a round 3 or round 4 driver this year. Logano is fast, but he did have one rough patch already this season. As far as Las Vegas win goes, it may not help him in the playoffs. NASCAR has contingency plan if they can't race at Vegas in the Playoffs..

Brad Keselowski to me is another round 3 or round 4 driver this season. Phoenix is a track that Brad never won in cup and finish in the top 10 less than 50 percent of the time.

Denny Hamlin is about a lock for the final four. I wouldn't be shocked be shocked if he gets career high in wins. As far as Phoenix goes, it is not a bad track. The catch is Denny only there twice including last year.

Kevin Harvick is having the best season I've seen out of a cup driver since Jeff Gordon's 1998 season. Kevin basically has an automatic bid for the playoffs due to all the playoff pits he has. Kevin finally has a competent pit crew doing pit stops. I wouldn't be shocked if Kevin ends up with 10 or 11 cup wins this year. Kevin has not won at Phoenix since it was reconfigured.

NASCAR President Steve Phelps had a call with reporters today. Here is a list of key things that he said.

  • There is a back up plan if Las Vegas is a no go in the playoff.
  • He Might announce 2021 schedule in pieces due to Covid-19 right now.
  • There is possible 1 day shows in 2021, but still working on it.
  • The could be more new venture coming in 2021, but it depends on talks.
  • Daytona 500 date will not change in 2021 even if it full capacity is not possible.
  • He will not change a Daytona oval race into a Daytona Road course instead.
  • Daytona Road Course points race isn't rule out in 2021 despite using it for the clash.
  • No change to rules when a driver misses a race due to covid-19.
  • A driver in 4-car organization potentially could have ownership in another organization if NASCAR convinced it is not a 5th car of the organization the driver drives for.

I would point it to yes because I'm sure NASCAR heard of the rumor.

I heard of the rumor of Denny Hamlin rumor, but he did not confirm or deny it.

That rule does open that up, but I don't know Denny Hamlin actually is going own a part of RPM. The problem right now is if RPM does go to Toyota, would NASCAR interpret RPM getting JGR support.

Racing Superstars Experience announced another driver. It is Willy T. Ribbs. People think of him being the first African-american to test a Formula 1 car and be in the Indy 500.

I saw him in NASCAR truck series and in CART. Willy T. Ribbs as a driver had bad equipment in CART.

I did know he was a great Trans-AM driver back in the 1980s when he was with Roush and he also won races with Paul Newman's sports car team. Trans-am is a sports car series. Some of the NASCAR road specialists like Borris Said actually made that series their main series.

Trans-am is where Jack Roush made his name as a car owner before going to NASCAR. Willy T. Ribbs as a driv He did have a failed attempt in NASCAR in 1986 for the cup series. Willy's problem in cup was Digard Motorsports was on the decline with them having money problems and cheating caught up to them.

There is a slight update on Hendrick Motorsports and the original source is SiriusXM Speedway and they had Rick Hendrick on yesterday based on what I read.

Rick will have 4 cup teams next year and the organization will have an announcement have a little bit later on in the year. Hendrick Motorsports is right now focused on the chase and trying to win a championship.

Basically don't expect a 48 team announcement before all the Hendrick teams are eliminated or at least one of 3 is eliminated.

Germain Racing announced Geico will not be back in 2021 today. I know there has been rumors earlier this weekabout Germain Racing considering selling the race orangization due to the rumor of Geico leaving.

The organization has no signed a sponsor and did say they are exploring selling the team.

It also sound like Geico is not sponsoring any NASCAR team in 2021 and the only thing in NASCAR they will be sponsoring is the NASCAR series deal.

What I know about Geico is they got a new CEO back on January of this year and they have been ending many team-associated sponsorships across all motorsports.

Before the Southern 500 started, Ryan Blaney lost 10 points and his crew chief ejected from the race track for improperly mounted ballast.

There is huge huge news. NASCAR has submitted proposal to San Bernardino County that converts Auto Club Speedway from a 2 mile track to a high banked half a mile short track.

The plan is NASCAR will start construction after the 2021 Spring NASCAR race there and be opened for 2022.

I did read information exactly the track will be like. It will have long straightaways like Martinsville, but high banked corners like Bristol.

I have my own thoughts about the major change to Auto Club Speedway. At first, I thought this was a very late April Fool's joke when I first read the headline.

I am a fan more short tracks, but Auto Club would not be my first choice to do this although I understand why. Texas and Kentucky goes not good reputations for its racing in NASCAR. The problem is Bruton Smith reconfigured the 2 tracks for not all turns have the same amount of banking. Burton Smith tried to make Kentucky into Darlington, but Darlington is a tire eating track due to the surface.

Auto Club is due for a repaving and new paved tracks usually need to get age to turn good and is why drivers and fans do not like race tracks get repaved. To put thing thing in prospective, Auto Club had the same pavement since 1997. To put things into prospective, it is around the time for a repavement. Auto Club was not the best track for NASCAR in its early years and it was way better for CART/Indycar. Auto Club for Indycar was their version of Daytona and Talladega in terms of pack racing and lots of passing. Indycar no longer goes to Auto Club due to concern of speed.

I think NASCAR is trying correct a mistake that was made during the building boom of race tracks that got the cup schedule. There has been way too many intermediate tracks. They screw up the balance of the cup schedule back during the 1997 to after Kentucky Motorspeedway was added. The France Family and the family of Bruton Smith was responsible for that. What I am referring to those two family thought bigger the track, the more people can in the stands. They also at the time thought create tracks that can do open wheel and stock car. NASCAR after 1984 went down from 30 cup races to 28 cup races. NASCAR was forced to get a rid of Riverside after 1988. NASCAR added Watkin's Glen, Sonoma, Phoenix and @MinnieM123 's home race track New Hampshire Motor Speedway before adding big sized ovals starting with the historical Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Before 1997, there was 8 short track races from 1985 to 1996 before North Wilkesboro was taken off by the owner New Hampshire Speedway and Bruton Smith. From 1997 to 2011, NASCAR has added 7 race tracks to the cup schedule with 6 of them being 1.5 miles.

The other thing NASCAR did partner start a partnership with a land developer earlier this year and changing the size of the track might have been part of why NASCAR wanted a land developer. Having a smaller track means more land. The land in California is worth a lot of money per acre. That means NASCAR either will sell some of the land or what to do something similar to Kansas. Kansas has a casino and is one of the early things of NASCAR adding entertainment on race track property.

Auto Club speedway is on over 500 acres and land is expensive in California. I am under the impression NASCAR wants fans to have more things to do on property before the races start and after the race ends. The part of California Auto Club Speedway is located has a bad history and NASCAR's thinking adding stuff for Casual race fans could help out in this case with it being short track racing.

As far as the description of the transformation goes, the quality of racing depends on the rule package.

Superstar Racing Experience announced Mark Webber as a driver. I heard of Mark, but I usually did not watch the series he used to race in.

Mark Webber is a former formula one driver and won 9 races there. Mark also is a 2015 champion of the FIA World Endurance Championship series. The FIA World Endurance Championship has multiple classes of cars competing in endurance races and each team uses multiple drivers each race.

Germain Racing is up for sale due to Geico leaving. The people that interested in buying the team are Denny Hamlin, Justin Marks, and TMT racing50( famous boxer Floyd Mayweather is the owner).

There has been rumors about Denny Hamlin being team owner before this with Bubba Wallace being the driver. Justin Marks tried to get a charter from Leavine Family Racing for his planned new race team for 2021.

As far as TMT racing 50 goes, they are an organization I actually heard about before this. I recalled there being talk Floyd Mayweather's r team wanting to attempt a cup race this year, but it hasn't happened.

As far as Denny having the money for this, there is an easy explanation. Denny is a 3 time Daytona 500 winner and Daytona 500 has the biggest purse for money. Denny also won the all-star race before for a million dollars.

Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan announced they are starting a cup team in 2021 with Bubba Wallace as the driver. They also bought the charter of Germain Racing. Michael Jordan is the Majority owner. Bubba Wallace has a multi-year deal. Car number, manufacturer, sponsors will be announced at a later date.

Chip Ganassi announced Ross Chastain will be the driver of the 42 car in 2021. Ross is known for his watermelon paint schemes in the past. Ross came from a family that had no racing connections, and he was born in a family are Watermelon farmers.

There are rumors about the 2021 cup schedule. NASCAR is trying to get a least 4 new tracks on it with the first one being known is Nashville.

According to NASCAR media members, Texas Motor Speedway will be losing a points race date in 2021. Texas Motor Speedway will be getting the all-star race besides having one points race. The reason for this is NASCAR wants to race at Circuit of the Americas.

I heard of the Circuit of the Americas before as a race track. The race track is located in Austin, Texas. It is a road course had formula 1 races from 2012 to 2019. They didn't race this year due to covid-19. Indycar raced at the track last year after their radius contract with Texas Motor Speedway ended.

As far as the two other tracks for cup, it is pointed towards Road America and World Wide Technology Raceway. The problem is I don't know what cup tracks will lose a date or a contract has signed from a cup series standpoint with the 2 tracks. World Wide Technology Raceway was formally known as Gateway Motorsports Park and is 1.25 mile oval that located just East of St. Louis, Missouri.
