As far as the 2020 cup championship goes, Matt doing rest of the 32 races might change stuff for who gets in. It depends on some stuff. Matt is 48 years old and haven't been in a cup car since the 2018 Homestead final. To top it off, Matt was is not known for his road racing ability.

What Matt has for him is the 42 car this year is much stronger than the 6 car was in 2018. Chip Ganassi Racing is much stronger this year in general than Roush was in 2018. Rest of the cup schedule is not known at this point. This could play into Matt's hands. NASCAR's schedule depends on governments from a state or local level if they are allowed to race without fans.

NASCAR is going to have one day shows without practicing and qualifying except for the Coca Cola 600.

Personal protective equipment will be mandated and health screenings will be performed on all individuals before entering, while inside, and before leaving the track with social distancing being practiced throughout the weekend.

NASCAR made it clear that Darlington as of now will be having their Southern 500 as the first playoff date with the track having 3 dates. Everything is pointing to Charlotte having 3 dates also.

This is the first time a race track gets 3 track dates since 1981 when Riverside did.

The amount of cup dates Charlotte and Darlington is getting means, some tracks are losing a date this year. I don't know which ones at this time.

I think no having any practice is going to hurt Matt Kenseth. My reasoning is the horsepower is down compare to where it was in 2017 and 2018. This is an adjustment period for him.

I think Darlington is going to be a wild card. My reasoning is the 1st Darlington race is a transition race in track condition since the race has a 3:30 p.m. eastern time. The catch is a 400 mile race would be over before 7 at night if 3.30 is the actually starting time and 400 miles take much less time at Darlington compare to a 500 mile race. The Southern 500 event has been ending much later than the project times for the 400 mile Darlington race. To top it off, there would be no practice on the track. There is no way for dealing with a race set up

The 310 mile Darlington race is going to be similar to the Southern 500, but could be cooler temperatures at night. To top it off, it might be a wreckfest like the 310 mile Charlotte cup race could be. My reasoning is you are dealing with qualifying by owner's points. After the 400 Mile Darlington race, it will be based on this year's owner's points.

NASCAR has announced some rule changes.

The temporary ban on most testing will be lifted on May 4, but on track testing will not be allowed in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series or Gander Truck Series for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Racing organizations are allowed the maximum usage of 70 hours in 2020 for wind tunnel use.

All remaining parts submission meetings for 2020 have been cancelled and Minimum number of short block sealed engines changes from 13 to eight.

There are new technical rules due to the Ryan Newman crash. Here is the information:

  • Elimination of aero ducts at superspeedway tracks.
  • Reduction in size of throttle body from 59/64" to 57/64" for Super Speedway races.
  • Roll bar padding specifications are updated at all race tracks starting June 1st.
  • Oil reservoir tank or overflow expansion tank must contain a check valve will be mandatory at all tracks beginning at Talladega. NASCAR did not announce any race date for Talladega yet.
  • Slip tape must be applied along the entire length of the lower rearward facing surfaces of the rear bumper cover and extension for Super Speedway races only.

NASCAR confirmed today that Sonoma, Chicago, and the spring Richmond race lost their 2020 dates.

Charlotte 310 mile cup race is replacing Sonoma. It is not a Charlotte Roval race at all.

The May 17th and May 19th Darlington races are replacing the Chicagoland cup race and the Chicagoland Xfinity series race.

Richmond cup race is now the May 20th Darlington cup race.

NASCAR gave out the answer why there is no Charlotte Roval race replacing sonoma. They said it is due to parts/cars aren't ready for doing a roval race. The 2nd reason is Roval puts a beating on cars that requires a turnaround of several weeks.

I have a little bit of tv information I read.

Fox mentioned they are planning to do the next 12 cup races and the all star race. Mike Joy did say Fox haven't heard anything about the all-star race happening, but that they hope it happens.

MBM Motorsports announced Roofclaim.com is now sponsoring their cup series program, Xfinity series program, and Tim Hill's truck series program. What caused this was Tim Hill won the ENASCAR Iracing Proinvitational series championship.

MBM Motorsports was on a blink of being gone. The owner of MBM Motorsports let go all 30 employees when North Carolina gave a stay at home order and the organization had money issues. That nature of the money issues was to the point before the Coronavirus that MBM Motorsports needed Tim Hill to make the Daytona 500 in order to keep the race organization.

Joilet Planning Commission is going to Address Chicagoland Speedway development on July 16th instead of April 16th.

The race track itself is safe. Extra land on on the property will be sold for Industrial complex with it being 82.3 acres.
