Jeff said it was for a couple of reasons: a lot less print and regular media following the sport which lead to less preseason magazines and the use of social media for the teams to get their info out

Stewart-Haas finally announced Daniel Suarez as the driver of the 41 car with arris and has a multi year dear with the team.

Jeff Gordon signed a multi year deal with fox.
I did find out the silly season didn't stop yet for NASCAR. Johnny Sauter was fired yesterday from his NASCAR series truck series ride due them wanting Brett Mofitt due to financial reasons and Brett being 14 years younger than Johnny.
Brett is the 2018 Truck series champion that got forced out of his reason due to him not having a sponsor.

I like him, and think he does very well behind the mike. Glad that he was able to parlay his racing career into being a sportscaster for NASCAR races.

The Fox booth would be better without DW.

I agree. I take Jeff Gordon over DW, but the problem is Fox likes to have 3 people in a booth. The problem with that is Michael Waltrip would be taking Darrell's place since Michael has experience in the Truck series and the Xfinity series as a color commentator.
I never been a fan of Michael in the booth to put it mildly.

I read around 50 layoffs happened in NASCAR. It depends on the source, but one claims its due to declining ticket sales and viewership and anther source claims its due to NASCAR buy all the shares in International Speedway Inc.
If there is anyone that needs to be laid off or a pay cut is the upper management people that have been making decisions that has put NASCAR into this position of their current problems a first place.

I don’t mind the three person booth. I’d like to see Larry Mac or another crew chief. Michael Waltrip’s grid walk is painful to watch.

I found out sad news. J.D. Gibbs passes away at the young age of 49 of his long battle with a degenerative neurological disease
. He was first announced with this disease in March of 2015. He left behind 4 sons and a wife. 49 years old now days is young for a death compare to turn of the 20th century.
Besides being the oldest son of Joe Gibbs, he played a big role with Joe Gibbs Racing. He even was part of the pit crew in the early days of Joe Gibbs Racing. He was on the Pit Crew when Joe Gibbs Racing won their first ever Cup race, the 1993 Daytona 500.
He was the President of Joe Gibbs Racing from 1997 to 2015 and a co-founder of the organization. He stepped down to due to degenerative neurological disease. J.D. Gibbs was the person who discovered Denny Hamlin and have him join Joe Gibbs Racing. I know J.D Gibbs was responsible for finding Denny Hamlin, I'm guessing Tony Stewart, and a bunch other drivers including Joey Logano.
What I do know is Joe Gibbs younger Son Coy is managing his team.
RIP to J.D Gibbs and thoughts to the entire Gibbs Family.

I found out two of the names that were laid off. David Hoots from Race Control is gone. NASCAR also got a rid of Richard Buck. Richard was the Director of the cup series.
I don't know who's replacing David Hoots. I do know Richard Buck was replaced by Jay Fabian. Jay was the person who oversaw post-race inspection at the tech center.

Glen Wood past today at the age of 93. Glen's death does not affect the ownership of the Wood brothers. While Glen and and Leonard are the co-founders of the race team, Glen's oldest son Eddie is one of the co-owners of the team.
Glen Wood is before my time when he was a race car driver. I though the Wood Brothers was one the premier Ford teams in NASCAR of the 1960s and 1970s. The race team is the oldest active NASCAR team that got its start in 1950.
RIP to one of the Legends in NASCAR and one of its pioneer. Glen was one of the last pioneers in NASCAR alive.

Jammie Mcmurray is racing the Daytona 500. Spire Motorsports is teaming up with Chip Ganassi Racing with Jamie using the number 40 number.

Spire Motorsports announce Quin Houff will race for them part time starting at Phoenix. He's going to do do about half the cup races according to Spire Motorsports. Other drivers haven't been announced yet.
Quin Houff seems to be a random hire. He does not have a lot of experience in regional or nation touring series at all.
He only raced 10 times in the Xfinity series in his life with being 21 years old. He only raced 9 times in NASCAR and Arca last year combined. His background was in limited late model and CARS Super late models series.
As far as Spire Motorsports hiring Quin, I guess it is something people could see happening. The reasoning Spire Motorsports formed late with most of the drivers gone to other teams.

Brad Keselowski is still racing full time in cup despite his announcement of him introducing his new Company Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing. Brad did say company is basically a combination of advanced engineering, additive manufacturing, and CNC technology.

I found out that today is the last day of Jayski.com . ESPN decided to pull the plug on it after owned jayski since 2007. Jayski was around for 22 years. Jayski.com was a great place to find information on rumor mill stuff. I first know about Jayski back in the late 1990s.
As far as ESPN pulling the plug on it, it shouldn't be a shock. ESPN/ABC has been getting of Motorsport people. I think they have F1 and that is it for motorsports.
I know the former owners still were involved with the site after it was bought in 2007, but ESPN has the right to close it down.

NASCAR made a new Rule for the 2019 season. The rule is owners, drivers, crew members and series officials are prohibited from gambling on NASCAR.
NASCAR's penalties for the owners, crew chiefs, Series officials, drivers and Crew member trying to gamble on NASCAR is a indefinite suspension or termination and/or a fine of $150,000-$200,000.
I'm a bit surprised NASCAR didn't have this policy sooner because there are racetracks that have casinos on property such as Dover.
