NASCAR has announced practice practice and qualifying procedures for next year.

Short track Practice will be 25 minutes for group 1 and 25 minutes for group 2. Short track qualifying will be 2 laps for each car for 1 rounds.

Super Speedway qualifying will be 1 lap each for 2 rounds with 10 cars advanced to 2nd round.

Road Course practice will be 25 minutes for group 1 and 25 minutes for group 2.

Road course qualifying will be one round, but will have 2 groups of qualifying with each group having 20 minutes each to qualifying. Road Course Qualifying also will allow multiple cars on the track at once.

The 1 mile to 2.5 mile track that aren't plate races will have practice for 25 minutes for each group. Qualifying for the 1 mile to 2.5 mile tracks that aren't plate races will have 1 round of qualifying for 1 lap.

NASCAR legend Fred Lorenzen died at the age of 89. Fred won 26 cup races including the Daytona 500, and the World 600. He also was the first NASCAR driver to have over $100,000 in winnings in a season back in 1963. He was a big name in NASCAR back in the 1960s.

Fred was before my time, but he retired young. I am saying that because he didn't race in 1968 and 1969 in NASCAR. He came back in 1970, but final race was in 1972 at the age of 37. What I do know is Fred was quoted in the past that Fireball Roberts death in 1964 played a role in why he retired originally in 1967. Back in 1964 Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts, and Jimmy Pardue died in race accidents although Fireball didn't die till weeks later.

As far as Fred's death goes, I am not surprised because he was already suffering dementia by the time he was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2016. I also read in the past that he was starting show signs of dementia back in 2006.

23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports win preliminary injection in lawsuit against NASCAR. That means the teams are starting the 2025 season with charters and one of the charters from Stewart-Haas Racing to Front Row Racing must go through.

I wasn't to get login here on WDWmagic from January 2nd till tonight and have plenty of news I read during that time frame.

NASCAR basically created the Kyle Larson rule. What I am referring to is NASCAR created a rule that states "Playoff points would be forfeited if a waiver is granted after a suspension or if a driver chooses to skip a race including racing the Indy 500 instead of the Coca Cola 600.

Playoff points would not be forfeited in the event of a medical absence, missing a race for the birth of a child or a family emergency, or if age restrictions prevent a driver from racing a full season."

Indycar Legend Helio Castroneves is entered for the Daytona 500 by driving the 91 car for Trackhouse Racing and is locked in for the Daytona 500 due to new NASCAR rule

The new NASCAR rule is NASCAR now has a "Open Exemption Provisional” and Helio is now able to race in the Daytona 500 as a result. Open Exemption Provisional is similar to the “promoter’s choice provisional” used in short-track racing to guarantee a starting spot for a special entry. NASCAR's provisional is reserved for “world-class drivers who enter a NASCAR Cup Series race." If approved, this allows a maximum of 41 cars to enter a Cup Series race.

Helio Castroneves is considered a World class class driver. His resume has 25 Indycar wins including 4 Indy 500 wins and has won the 24 hours of Daytona 3 times.

McDonald's pulled out as a sponsor of the Chicago Street course race. What I know is Mcdonald's had a 3 year deal, but they decided to pull out early.

Also Chicago Road Course does have ABB, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, and Xfinity for the 2025 race.
