While I’m in here hoping that I’ll get an answer on my headset/switch problem, I will ask your opinions on something else..

Why does EA not offer cross platform play?
And... do you think they will, soon?

The reason my kid is playing Fortnite so much is only because it’s the only game that all his friends can play on, no matter what system they have. He would love to play other games sometimes, especially FIFA20 or NBA2K19..I know other kids would like to do the same. I think EA is missing out by not offering that type of play.
Generally, it is not the publisher stopping cross-platform play it is the console makers, in particular Sony.

The real reason; who knows. It is probably as simple as they are in a commanding lead in the console market so they don't have or need to.

Sony's official stance back in 2018 on the matter from their chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida was that PlayStation Network is the best place to play games, that's why cross-play isn't needed.

Another question... how do you play with headphone when the Switch is on the base?

Kiddo has been playing a lot of Fortnite with friends during quarantine. I finally gave in and bought a microphone, just because these circumstances are so out of the norm.. but, he always plays in portable mode, so the headset can connect. Now that the Joy Cons are glitching though, he’ll have to use on the tv.
I have a rolling office chair in my room that I bring close to the TV. Right now though since Fortnite voice chat has been broken between my group of friends for months we call each other on the phone and use that for voice chat 😕

The first week of quarantine he was calling a friend on the FB Messenger for Kids.. and talking that way, the downside was only one could hear him... which is why I finally gave in to the microphone.

I guess we’ll just bring a chair to the tv too. You would think Nintendo would have wireless capability, or at least an input on the Pro controller.

I wonder if Nintendo has put a dent in their sales at all, or if a lot of people just added a Switch as additional play. For us, Nintendo made the most sense with its travel ability and youth friendly games.

PS5 Stock to Be 'Limited' in First Year, Says Report
A clever ploy to increase demand and get free marketing when every local news stations show lines of people camped out a week before launch day?

Personally I think Sonys stance on crossplay is going to hurt them next gen. The whole Fortnite debacle really opened up peoples eyes as to how anti consumer Sony is.

We can only hope. While I do next to zero online gaming, I know plenty of people that do and cross-platform is a big deal to them. The only way I see Sony changing their tune is if it costs them money not to.

Now that PC and Xbox play nice together, it will be interesting to see MS opens it up full bore making people jump ship come the holidays this year.

100% this. Microsoft played this game during the last generation when they wouldn't let sony crossplay with XboxLive. The moment they started losing money on Xbox they began support Crossplay and remembered that they use to make games for PC. Both companies have had their shared of Anti-consumer behavior this gen and last gen.. Hopefully that fixes.

Also anyone know how to fix a E106 error on an Xbox on the insiderer loop. You can't because Microsoft won't let users on the insider loop recover their OS to the newest stable release because it's considered an old release compared to the insider loop. Xbox is currently bricked.. -.-

Have you tried the various solutions here?

Yep.. I tried all of those.. they failed so I tried to do a USB recovery.. I can't do that because the Insider loop is newered than the USO allows for. I did some digging it appears to be a somewhat common enough issue of the insider loop. The install or something will corrupt the installation and a recovery is not possible until a new USO comes out which can be a month or two...

I even tried swaping the Hard drive.. but nope cause the Xbox bios knows it's on the insider loop.. it won't stop be from getting the series X. I feel lucky that my One X is the only console that has really given me issues.

I miss the old days of the PS3 where you can pop a clean hard drive in and it would install the OS and run..

Sony has always been a pretty "hard drive swap friendly" platform which is something I am a tad bit jealous of. I would really love to be able to slide in a 1TB SSD into my XboxOne X. At least the next Xbox will already come with one.

Funny how out of all 3 it was Nintendo that went “sure, why not” the first chance they had at allowing cross play.

I feel like Nintendo really learned alot with the Wii U. They still do things that make me scratch my head, but Nintendo and PC gaming are usually my go to options. (Heck, the Switch "saved" me and brought be back into gaming)

I also feel like Microsoft learned alot this generation. If you told me 8 years ago they would bring the full halo collection to PC, make a new flight sim, and start making PC games again I would have laughed.
