Week of December 10th 2017

The Imagineering Newsletter dates back to early 2015 as a way to highlight some of the happening around the forum in an organized summary. Since then there have been several different iterations of the Newsletters, and with the year coming to a close along with some fresh new faces around the fourm - the Newsletter (Version 4.0?) is back!

Rewriting the DCEU

DC used to be a film IP that wowed millions. Everyone was amazed by Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Yet, the recent movies (with the exception of Wonder Woman) have been critical flops. While the dark overtone may have worked for Nolan's Batman, it does not apply to Man of Steel. That's why in this project I plan to rewrite the entirety of the DCEU. My personal goal is to reach Phase Four, and I hopefully will.

In this week's prompt, the two teams of armchair imagineers, Team Kingdom and Team Skyliner, were tasked with a 're-do' of Test Track in Epcot. Team Kingdom submitted a Big Hero 6 overlay and Team Skyliner did a Cars overlay.

Last year was the third annual Awards Ceremony on the Imagineer forum. Entitled The Lemon Tree Awards, it's a fun superlative filled self-hosted event where folks are nominated for awards such as Best Imagineer, Best Artist, Best Competition Host, and so on. The event is typically held around New Years Eve to ring in the next season of Armchair Imagineering. Thread will be started for nominations within the next two weeks!

One Sentence Competition Season 4 Episode 1
Slated to begin with the new year in January, the popular pithy competition, the One Sentence Competition, will be back in action once more for a new season (and with a new host! - @D Hindley ) Look for more updates in the coming weeks.

D Hindley has recently announced that he will be redeveloping his iconic project DisneySky (Link to Original, though it no longer includes images because Photobucket is mean). With a 100 page project bible, and tons of ideas from his trip to DisneySea, I can't wait to read it!

Evil Iger is going to sell Walt Disney World and the entire Florida property and use the money to build Kansas Disneyland. Operating costs in Walt Disney World will drop to zero! So much money will flow in fron the sale! A mega park can be built! And Evil Iger can build his legacy on the ashes of Walt Disney’s! It’s perfect from his perspective!​

An interesting opening for an interesting project comes from our very own armchair imagineer Pi! Every so often a new update journeys into the forums, and slowly expands the park. As it stands he has taken us to the untamed jungles of the world, to the darkest corners of the forest, and to the backyard of Snow White's castle. It is an interesting project, and one that I personally looks forward too. If you wish to follow along simply click here.

@MANEATINGWREATH continues his adventures in expanding his famed Disney Dream Resort, a 1,500 acre superpark; an amalgamation of the cream of the crop of Disney parks worldwide. An innovative new "Beauty and the Beast" on stage

Inspired by Fiasco Theater's 2014 production of Into the Woods, DisneyManOne brings us his interpretation of the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast. His vision brings to us a a tale as old as time told in a minilatici setting the attic of one of the friend's as they reenact the story of Beauty and the Beast. So You Want to Be an Imagineer Season 16 – Purists vs. Innovators

SYWTBAI comes in with another challenge this week as Tiki continues playing the devil's advocate in the classic battle of purists vs innovators. This challenge each side must work together to come up with the ultimate project. Team Purists must decide an interactive ride to predate Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and Team Innovators must design a new open world game based on a Magic Kingdom style park for the Nintendo Switch. The final submissions and results will be seen on January 21st. Game found here.

Celebrating the big 5th anniversary of this legacy competition @D Hindley , and for such a mommentous occasion he planned for each challenge to be a celebration of a different holiday of each month. Currently, the challenge is themed to Earth Day! Take part in the festivities here.

Project 5 was released today with the theme of this week to be around dining at EPCOT. Purists are to design a restaurant around a pre-existing attraction while innovators are to create a new attraction that doubles as a restaurant. To see the whole prompt, click here.
