MonorailRed's Round 3 Review:

Review of Tiki’s Final Submission:

anigif_enhanced-buzz-12118-1381160669-45.gif

Being a Musical lover, I’m really happy you chose to work with Wicked. It has so much potential! It’s popular, great music, great story, excellent choice!

On the other hand, I don’t know how I feel about using Wicked when GMR has Wizard of Oz at Studios.

I was hoping to really see something new to the forums/Imagineering Spectrum for the Elite Eight and you brought it. I LOVED how you mixed it with Alice’s Curious Labyrinth in Paris. Ever since the Quest for the Unicorn Attraction had been leaked for Beastly Kingdom, I really can see mazes having potential in Theme Parks. Exploring really fits where Universal is going with Harry Potter lately, so it sounds like a natural fit.

Love what you did with the map – Definitely shows how your telling the story!

Nice touch including the original Broadway cast! - But I’m not crazy about wax models, honestly. I may get some beef for this on the forums, but I think to fit in with the rest of Universal Resort, really 4D screens would have been a wiser choice.

I think it’s cool that you included backstage bits on the production… It seems more museum-y walk-through then a story of an adventure, and I think that’s what makes Sleeping Beauty or Alice’s a fin experience.

Final Notes:

Pros: Love “Wicked” for storytelling, love that you chose to do a maze, love that you chose a musical. I definitely enjoyed how you set the scenes. Good layout. Nice that it is open to exploration.

Cons: I feel like as a guest I’d be confused by the storyline if I walked to the area. Am I in Oz? Am I Backstage at a musical? I think the Exterior of the Maze and the interior clash in that respect. If I see Oz, I’m assuming I’m seeing a story about something in Oz, not the backstage of the story.

Review of Tcool’s Final Submission:

Nice Having the Dino end credit music in there! I always give props to music in the submission! (That may by the Apprentice in me talking though o_O)

And I agree with those statements in the review. Red Approved!

Ok, nice description on the Exterior. Good, descriptive text! I can see myself in line in this place! – Wish I had a picture though (That’s preference, I’m a very visual/artsy person :p)

The mural correlates with the area of Dinosaur! Queue in my opinion…. Nice! Don’t know if it fits a “Riverside Park” though.

HOLOGRAMS FOR THE WIN (My inner Kingdom Keepers pre-teen self just came out for a split second :bookworm: ) Nice how you explained how the tech works. :D

Glowing…. Caves with rafts. Concerns me since the Avatar River Raft ride is a go.

For some reason the cave reminds me of how Tony Baxter explained the caves in WRE at a D23 expo.:D ( Yes, I love WRE. Yes, I have issues. :cyclops:) But seriously though, some classic Disney storytellers start their stories in a cave, I feel like I’m in a Disney ride when you start it off like this.

Shout out on how you made the Plateosaurus and Massospondylus’s actions interact with guests…. I wish that was more of a thing with Jurassic Park at Universal at the beginning of the ride.

I don’t know how I feel about the Lexovisaurus/Dacentrurus scene….It’s look cool… But it sounds really Universe of Energy fight sequence to me.

Nat and Mestu sounds to me kinda like the original Jungle Cruise track, spitting info and how cool the place is. I would have loved to see more personality in the script with these two.

I’m guessing the multitude of hadrosaurs, Triceratops, and Styracosaurus means they’re static figures? A ton of AAs here.

Lots of Dino fights…. Again UoE comment. :cyclops:

I feel kinda like I’m missing an ending here…. I was waiting for an end to the story. I feel kinda underwhelmed with the Ankylosaurus swing since there was a ton of interaction with other Dinos throughout the ride.

Loved Nat and Mestu’s Goodbyes! Wish we got more of that! :D

Final Notes:
Pros: Loved the storytelling, loved the AAs interaction with guests, loved the holograms. Enjoyed how you described the attraction, I could see me there. Great fit to complement Dinosaur, and an interesting family "rival option" to Universal's Jurassic.

Cons: Concerned about the amount of AAs. Concerned about the fighting Dinos. Nervous about glowing and a boat together when Avatars in the same park. A little underwhelming ending. Wish we’d see more interaction with Nat and Mestu.

Yea, I probably should have kept it to a walk through using scenes from the musical without the behind the scenes elements. I kind of realized that as I was writing it and was finding the educational additions kind of forced. I guess I was just sentimental about the idea of re-using my favorite concept I came up with this year. Appreciate the feedback and kind words! :)

@TheOriginalTiki vs. @tcool123

Well guys, passing down the tradition, I have to say I'd love to give you guys both the title. You both should be extremely proud of your projects, and how far you've come not only in the Elite Eight, but all of 2015! Excellent Work Guys!

That's also for everyone in the Elite Eight and who had participated in the forums this year! 2015 has really flown by....

But Since there can only be one winner I choose....

Congrats and I Hope Everyone has an Excellent 2016!

I've never been on UoE so I wasn't really aware there was a lot of Dinosaur fighting. Bit ashamed I haven't ridden seeing how it's the only ride I have yet experience at WDW. I forgot to mention which dinosaurs were static or AA. I actually had planned that out beforehand :banghead: Basically all the herds would be static except for the fighting dinosaurs and the tall sauropods. I forgot about the Avatar and bioluminescent things, i just wanted what I think would've been a cool opening.

For the ending I was tossing up two options a big storm was fast approaching or a newly opened Ice Age room, but I couldn't really figure which I wanted to do. I decided to go with a cave ending.

On the personality of the characters if I did a script for the preshow there definitely been more of them. Nat being over the top, energtic, and very emotional, while Mestu would've been pratical, stern, a no nonsense kind of guy.

EDIT : I just saw I won!

I would like to thank @jdmdisney99 for hosting SAS2 as it was my first comp, and what got me into competing. I'm going to thank @sshindel , @Nemo14 , and @MonorailRed for being great judges, and @Zweiland for being a great host. I would like to thank the ICS community. It's an honor to be compete against everyone who have I competed against and/or collaborated with this TAFI year. And here's hoping for another great TAFI year!
