Not sure how many follow NCAA basketball, but considering it's Selection Sunday...I figured I'd start a thread for all those who will be filling out brackets and cheering on the various teams throughout the tournament. As you might gather from my name, I'm a Syracuse fan/alum. We haven't been doing too well these past few weeks and were barely getting by the weeks prior to that, so it's tough to be optimistic. Still, I'm excited to see them play and love seeing just how royally I can screw up my brackets :p

In any event, just figured this would be a good place to start posting about potential seeds (before the formal announcements tonight), brackets, and of course- THE GAMES! :D

This should be interesting...looks like we're starting out in Buffalo. If we can make it to the Elite 8 and FL survives as well...I'll have a sibling rivalry matchup (DB and SIL are Gators).

Let the Madness Begin! Time to work on my first bracket!!!

I've made a few brackets, and all of them have Wichita as the winner.

I just looked closely at statistics... maybe I should trust my gut more?

We shall see. People are having a hard time with them in their brackets as some consider them to be an untested team. I've seen a few people pushing them through to the final 4, but I've seen some people pushing them out as early as 2nd round in a loss to Kentucky. On the flipside, they also probably feel like they have a lot to prove because of this and will playing with that chip on their shoulder- i.e. could give them a nice edge. I keep coming down to Florida and Arizona in mine, but I keep wanting to add some variety. Still time for me to make impulse changes ;)

I'm rooting for Pitt, but I doubt they'll win. :)

They're definitely a decent team. With the exception of some of the really obnoxious Syracuse fans, I think most SU fans have a healthy dose of respect for Pitt basketball.

I'm trying the perfect bracket billion dollar challenge, I figure it will be a lost cause after the first day but its fun to spend the money in my head.

That's part of why I do it. I've probably got a better chance of winning the Powerball, but you can't win if you don't play :)

I've got Michigan State winning it all. They struggled with injuries but now that everyone's healthy, I think they've played much better and I would think their tough non-conference and conference schedule has prepared them for the tests. I've got Michigan State, Florida, Arizona and Louisville as my Final Four picks.

It also helps that Michigan State has Tom Izzo. Having a coach like that at the helm can make a big difference in the big dance.

Who's watching? These games have been intense.

It's been ridiculously close.

We were watching the Texas game until the news came on. DH just doesn't care. I was able to watch the SU game from work this afternoon, but that wasn't a close one. I guess at least they won. Brackets aren't great- but aren't awful either...9/12.

7/12

I'm anxiously waiting to see if Pitt beats Florida. They play Saturday.
My heart says Pitt, but my bracket says Florida. :)

Yeah- I don't have that working out for Pitt in my brackets, but anything can happen. Case in point- Duke falling to Mercer!

22/27 so far, but that Duke loss stings...well, from a bracket perspective ;)

Memphis over GWU tonight was an entertaining game between 2 up tempo teams. My alma mater beat the school that's a 1-minute walk from where I work.

Watching 'Cuse play right now...really low scoring game and the Orange just don't feel in synch today. Hoping for the best, but not feeling good.

My final four are still in, and that's all that matters. Florida, Arizona, Wichita, and Villanova.

Your brackets are definitely looking better than mine! The Duke loss and the Villanova loss hurt- a lot. What's funny...my championship game predictions are still intact.

And of course Syracuse lost. They deserved to lose with the way they play, but it still hurts.

Well, now only three of my final four picks are still in, thanks to Villanova's loss.
Wichita and Florida are my championship picks.

It looks like Wichita will end up playing Louisville... makes me nervous.

I debated about what to do with Wichita. They are playing Kentucky today...and it's probably going to be the biggest test they've seen all season. It's not a super strong Kentucky team, but they've still got Calipari at the helm. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and felt they might be able to eek past them in this game, but I've got them losing to Louisville. i.e. if Calipari's squad doesn't get them...Pitino's likely will. Still, that's what makes this all exciting :) You just never know.

I picked Memphis for that game in my main bracket! :)
