Disney corporate is in mourning of my vacation dollar for 2014. On the plus side Aruba is celebrating 2014 and I think Grenada is going to celebrate 2015!

As I have stated many times here on the forums. I sincerely hope that my mind can be changed for 2017...I want the magic back:in pain:. I want to believe that I can get an experience again concurrent to my dollar spent...I want to believe...I WANT to believe!!!

Can we take a moment to pause & reflect on the attractions, shows, and parts of WDW (good and bad) that we lost in 2014. Please add your own.

Maelstrom...
Backlot Tour....
Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow...
The Hat...

RIP

1. Maelstrom will definitely be missed and it's a darned dirty shame that Disney threw it under a bus for Frozen.

2. We've been saying "Rest in Peace" to the Backlot Tour since 2002. 2014 was simply removing the patient from life support.

3. To be fair, "Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow" was little more than an interactive DVD/Blu Ray commercial, much as "101 Dalmations" and "Narnia" before it. All in all, it was an underwhelming time-waster with only marginally more thought and effort than its predecessors, mostly because it worked as a testing ground for future attractions. And by future attractions, I mean Frozen. Given the small area of the Maelstrom show building, I'm willing to wager dollars to pesos that the same "hologram technology" (sarcastic air quotes) that put a 3D Captain Tupac-Already-Did-It at DHS will be put to use at Epcot.

4. BWA HA HA HA HA. The only "rip" that hat will be getting is if they build a giant paper shredder next to it and use a crane to push it over into it.

You didn't lose much, I assure you. Basically it was like a lame version of Alien Encounter...you sitting in a pitch-black theater while listening to sound effects.

Except there is nothing to see except for a few video snippets featuring Drew Carey as a security guard. And all the sounds are pumped into your head via earphones.

Oh and an elephant sneezes on you.

The glory of Sounds Dangerous is that you can easily simulate the exact same experience at home with a few simple steps.

-First, go into a room, shut all the windows, turn out all the lights, and make it completely pitch black where you cannot see a thing.
-Next, put on some headphones and listen to the sound of Drew Carey talking. Enjoy!

-For a slightly less painful experience, beat your head with a toaster non-stop for 7 minutes.
